As long as the group stays relatively healthy - I think our OL is gonna be really good this year.

Having Alex Mack should bring stability to the entire OL. I understand when a guy gets beat 1v1, what I can't stand are the blown protection calls that result in a free rusher. Having that vet center should reduce those situations.

A good season for McG could mean the difference between $10 or $20+ guaranteed cash in 2022.

Mack's brain and experience is going to be huge for pass protection. Huge.

It's so infuriating to see the pass protection fail when they've got the numbers evenly matched. I'm hopeful that Alex Mack will resolve those issues.

As for McFloppy, I fully expect him to bounce back and have a strong season.

Mack may be there in age but his knowledge of the game is still there. A Center responsability goes far beyond just blocking. A great C who can do the presnap reads will make your entire OL better. The Guards next to him will benefit, so will the QB. It's one of the most important positions in offense, one that this team was missing since 2012.

It's the web zone, where posters tear down players constantly, unless that player hasn't played a game yet, then he's a hero, unless his name is mac jones.

He trained hard (and put on weight) to prepare for the season….
That's great, but Should he not be doing this each & every year??

He did something very different last year and lost too much weight. Maybe he thought quickness would make him a better pass blocker. Whatever it was resulted in lower quality of play. He put back on weight to increase quality of play.

This is exactly what we have S & C coaches for and especially a nutritionist. I fully expect those boys to be the ones watching McG balance nutrition with wt gain/ muscle mass. That is their job and if he lost too much weight last yr (unless injured, which i sort of remember hearing), then that was on the nutrition and S and C boys. This is your job S & C…do it….Please.

Also McG lost Staley and that hurt because Joe was a great influence and coach. Now Banks, a former teammate is here and i bet that helps McG also. Lastly, RG was a mess most of the yr and that hurts RT also. So, factor all the above and i look forward to McG having a good yr.

yeah, kind of the downside to a mobile, run blocking lineman. more susceptible to bull rushes and being overpowered when it comes to prototypical, drop back to pass-blocking
I was just looking at PBWR in 2019 and fun fact McG had the 3rd highest PBWR in the league at 94% (so either this stat needs to go away and never be used again or McG was damn good in 2019)

PFF had him at 30th out of 57 in PBE.

I thought he had a pretty good 2019 personally. Better balance and more steady and consistent. More clutch.

30th in PBE seems a little low like 3rd in PBWR seems rather high IMHO.

Agree. Not sure why they allowed him to lose that much weight.

We'll see if the weight gain makes a difference.

yep. He was not star at pass protection in college but was very good in the run game. Not much has changed thus far.
Haha. If Mike stinks and isn't clutch, try this.
