That second contract is a hell of a motivator. I think we'll see the best of what McG has to offer. Then we gotta hope that's really who he is and not just him trying to get a fat second contract.

I think having Mack will improve the whole line, some of the breakdowns last year were people taking the wrong assignment...but I agree if he's still a liability in Pass Protection it's time to move on.

I think the 2nd contract and Mack will definitely help (not hurt) Mike McGlinchy's development - from a motivational and technical standpoint. If he can just get back to 2019 form (vs improving on 2019) with Banks and a healthy Jimmy, that's a net positive from 2020. With Bosa back, we can actually keep leads now and play the 4 minute offense more - vs having to catch up and play the pass protection, which is not McGlinchy's strong point. When you are behind, and the opposing team is basically pinning their ears back, guys like McGlinchy are going to be at a disadvantage.

BINGO We can't afford a repeat of what happened with AA either. B/c how he played during his contract season wasn't who he really is.
McGlinchey looks like he's put on 10-15 lbs. Dude is THICC now compared to his skeletor look of 2020.

Wow he definitely packed on some pounds! I might be in the minority for saying this, but I will say it again, his feet and poor pass blocking technique is more responsible for his poor play than his weight. People seem to only attribute it to his size and that is not the only thing, he's ALWAYS been bad at pass protection. He's always stiff and always seems to let guys get their "punch" on him first before he gets his hands on them. Hopefully the weight gain helps him and he looks nothing like he did last year Having Banks and Mack will definitely help as well

Not skeletor 😂

is that a protein shake in his hand?

(In Emperor Palpatine voice) Goood. Goood.

This is his last chance to shows he's improved. If the weight issue doesn't help him - he's gone next year.

Fully agreed. We know who MM and LT and Silverback are (their strengths and weaknesses). Same for Mack.

Banks, Brunskill at one position, Moore, Coleman, etc. are who we don't know quite who they are yet.

Weight/strength and Mack and Banks and contract year motivation will certainly help but in the end, he is who he is and it's the consistent issues in PP that are his weakness esp. in critical positions.

I think you're spot on. McGlinchey is stiff, tall, and weak. But mass moves mass, and it's beneficial to be a bigger, stronger body when the job is to physically stop or move someone in their tracks.

It won't surprise me if Jaylon Moore ends up as our RT. While they've exercised McGlinchey's 5th yr option, it doesn't mean they to intend to re-sign him long-term. For this season, JM could become the swing OT. This kid can play very well in both the running game and pass pro.

I would be very surprised if a small-school rookie project is able to beat out an experienced RT in a contract year. I think Moore spends this year learning the system at both RT and RG, but he is depth for 2021. He'll be in the mix for a starting role in 2022 if McGlinchey is too expensive to bring back.
morgan moses released. rated 80.6 last year.
