How long do we get to put off our decision on his fifth year option?

also his 5th yr option is only gtd for injury and they can cut him before next June 1st and owe him nothing.

5th-year option is fully guaranteed now.

Ouch. How can we kick the tires between now and may? Ota's?

Out of all the guys, MM is the most vital part imo. We know the rest of the line is solid but MM being average at PP while maintaining his stellar run blocking would make this the best line we had since the Harbaugh era.
Me showing up to camp with a box of In N Out for McGlinchey:

I think he needs to work on his pass protection more than his weight.
I bet him and Mack will have some Matt Ryan stories to trade.

I think he just might be shellshocked from when Grasu repeatedly headbutted him in Week 6 vs LAR.

If MM can get to middle of the pack in PP while maintaining the run blocking, Jimmy is going to the Pro Bowl and we are having a deep playoff run. This is how vital the RT position is.

If that was true they would have drafted Wirfs

Doubt Jimmy is going to the pro bowl with Brady, Rodgers, and Wilson in the NFC. Doesn't matter how good the line is.
#comebackplayeroftheYEAR!
Needs to spend the off-season in the weight room and train with a specialist. Is LeCharles Bentley still running a program?

Cue eye of the tiger..
I saw a video of McGlinchey working out on social media. He's already noticeably bigger than he was last year. I'd guess 10-15 lbs heavier.

That's very encouraging. Work on that base and technique just as hard. Contract year. Trying to earn that $10.8M 5th year option.

Issue is that 5th yr option has to be picked up by May 3rd, and apparently it's now fully GTD once the option is exercised, it used to be GTD for injury, and fully on the first day of the new league year, but apparently with the new CBA in 2020, the option is fully GTD, Idk what the 49ers do with McGlinchey, I can't see how you can GTD $10.88M unless you know 100% that he's the guy and will extend him for less in 2022.

That's good to hear. This is just speculation, but I think the plan was for him to drop weight to improve his athleticism, then this pandemic started and he lost the bad weight sitting at home and didn't get a chance to live in the workout room and replace it with good weight. This offseason I believe he'll come in to camp in much better condition.
