There are rumors McGlinchey could go in the top 10; why is he listed so low in this Top 50?

McGlinchey is a solid player but not top ten material. In a year when a Trent Williams (Redskins) or a Duane Brown (Seahawks) were in the mix, he wouldn't be in top ten consideration. The desire for McGlinchey is more about the demand for a decent offensive tackle than it is for the player himself. He's not a stiff, but his technique breaks down when facing speedy edge or speed-to-power converting pass rushers.

Quite honestly, this evaluation is a lot like the edge rushers or QBs this year. A lot of guys who either didn't really wow you like how other QBs have recently (Watson and Wentz for example). Ditto with the pass rushers. There were no Myles Garrett's out there. Sometimes the draft falls that way.
I think there is no way brown will contribute this year. You dont blow a top ten on insurance. So mcg needs to start day one.

But we were legitimately terrible tackling in the defensive backfield. Didnt address that.

No game changing pass rush. Didnt address that.

So, hope there is a reason other than we might need a tackle in a year or two.

Thats in two years. We have three guys right now in the back field that cant tackle marcus lattimore in a wheel chair.

could be this year, could be next, if Staley gets an ACL he's probably done. Brown is a huge question mark and shows little desire to keep in shape, yeah he has a labrum injury but does that stop you riding a bike to stay in shape?

In a draft deep in LBs but light in OTs it makes perfect sense to go OT first.

Really hard to address that where we picked last night.

I'm warming to this pick.

Better to solidify the line now. Colts got the best lineman in the draft but who knows if it's too late already? Luck might never be what he was.

We can't afford to play musical chairs with our O-Line. Need to play it safe.
I've slept on it...if they can get a day 2 pick for Brown and come out of the draft with some good prospects I'm good with it.

He's a plug and play RT, I don't think he's gonna he a pro bowler or anything.

I will say this draft up to really wasn't amazing and I don't know about the "injury red flags" on Landry. I think we gotta try to use brown and our 3rd to move up for someone.

FYI we now have 5 1st rd picks on that OL

True. But what about db/cb? I mean is there no way to find an fa or trade for someone by end of june? We have to think outside the box.

Yes. But then how bout trade down. We can get mcg at 40 plus have an extra pick for a sleeper we like.

Could have had van der esch minka poo instead of mcg at 9.

the story they're sticking to is that the Raiders would've taken McG. i don't buy it. if anything, praage was demanding too much from the cardinals to trade up and they told us to go f ourselves.

we have Sherman, Khello, Ward and Williams who can play CB, plus there are still a few decent CBs left as it's a deep draft in that postion.

Prior to yesterday we had more depth at DB than at T.

I think we did think outside the box.

Most NFL insiders said McGlinchey was in play for Oakland.

Would not be surprised if Brown is not dealt until TC/preseason due to not being 100% right now.
