McGlinchey ranks as Pro Football Focus' 9th best OT with a 76,9 grade, and the 6th overall best rookie in this class. Very good start to his pro career. Great hope for the Niners, for sure.

My pick for the Niners while on the clock, Leighton Vander Esch, is the 3rd highest graded LB in the NFL this season, with a grade of 88.2, and second best graded overall rookie (behind Mayfield) in this class.

Number of really good rookies in this draft so far.

A key to look at is....what is the difference between a guy like LVE and Fred Warner vs McGlinchey compared to every other rookie tackle out there. The dropoff was enormous at tackle and that seems to be proving out with so many projects and guys who aren't game ready and might not be for awhile.

Wonder where Warner ranks , because if you look at their stats, Warner's are better...(tackles, PD, FF etc)

Good question on Warner. Maybe someone who is paying for all the grades can drop his score from them. I'd be curious.

LVE didn't play very much in the first two games, but his tackle per snap ratio is astronomical.

Not to jump to another non MM topic, but what are your thoughts on Jonah Williams?

Ok. Fine but trent was fine player. We could have used the pick on another position.

You're a funny guy.

I bet $100 if Trent were still here, you wouldn't be calling him a "fine player." You'd be complaining about how awful his run blocking is, instead.

McGlinchey is a MASSIVE upgrade in the run blocking game.
We hit on Mcglinchey as a first rounder at a position of (eventual) need (Trent Brown wasn't a fit for shanny's offense).

Just need to hit again next year's draft. Can't miss on high first rounders

If Bosa's there it'll be easy. I hope.

Derwin is a difference maker. You don't bypass elite for need. Ever

Lol so MMs elite run blocking hasn't equated to being a difference maker? A top tier OT isn't a difference maker because they aren't sexy right?

OT>>>>S and its not even close. There were starting quality S sitting on their ass heading into the season after FA and guys like Nate solder who's avg and got paid $62 million....look at positions and how money is allocated and you will see what positions matter more.

Get you have a elite player who doesn't play a super important position. James was a top talent but there's a reason he dropped to 17th.

Yeah, Kevin Jones was noting this. Great, the run game improved but is that helping you win games? Like beefing up the DL to stop the run. Is that helping you win?

Or should we have gone for other priorities instead?

If Jimmy and Jerick are healthy right now then McGlinchey's ability in the run game has a bigger impact on the offense IMHO.

And earl Thomas cant get a new deal lol. Go look at the money spent on tackles vs safeties.

If you're trying to tell me safety is just as an important position as tackle I'm gonna disagree all day with that take...and most people would agree

NC you've been complaining about the OL forever... they make a quality pick and our OL is currently ranked top 5 thru 5 games and we're discussing about other priorities...come on now.

For the love of god , it's impossible for people to give anyone credit for making a good pick but it's easy as s**t to complain about everything else

This is a very flawed argument (jones not you) given the circumstances. I would also hardly say that MM is a one trick pony in regards to run blocking. Imo he's been fine in PP and is getting better and better. So not sure how anyone can be upset getting a cornerstone OT that is elite in run blocking and good in PP.

It's because the GOAT Trent Brown was ushered out of town
