I'm with you Gore49er ... they can't stop anything when it really matters. They'll make the playoffs, but will be out sooner rather than later. They OVERREACTED last year after the AFCCG. Should have drafted D instead of cleaning house.

They can win with a great offense, but that OL is bad too. Idc how good your QB is, bad OL, below average defense, nobody is winning a super bowl that way.
It is bad now because Fisher and Wylie are out injured. They don't have a Skule or Brunskill to fill in or a Shanahan who can scheme around them.

It is true that teams are using the Belichick model to defend them and it is working. It is true that if you give the league an off-season to work on a particular new wrinkle, they will get better at defending it. We saw that with Kaepernick.

300 yards, 3 TDs, 0 int, 31 points

Mahomes played well enough in the playoffs to beat New England, the defense failed.

Mahomes was also shut out in the first half. While he had a great 2nd half, his 1st half was in part, a reason they lost.

But all in all, if Dee Ford learned where to line up, the Chiefs may have won the Superbowl, and Tom Brady's AFCCG performance would be remembered as a trash game against a trash defense.

You missed the point.

I am actually defending Mahomes to the extent the numbers are down due to injuries. Hunt, Hill, Watkins, Fisher, Wylie, all those guys are making it harder on the overall offense and Mahomes in particular. It happens.

And, it is also true that the teams that have beaten the Chiefs, have been using the same formula Belichick used.

Reid needs to adjust.

Belickeck's formula was to score more than 31. 32 points is going to win almost every time in the playoffs.

...included rushing four and playing man. That is what Indy did and that is what Houston did. KC is 0-3 in those games.
Mahomes is an overrated bum.

Sure I'm exaggerating, but man...…….he ain't the god just yet.

Physically more gifted than Russell Wilson, but not playing up to it yet. Probably shouldn't be expected of him yet either, but the media fawning gets annoying and I think Mahomes is buying into it too.
Typical Andy Reid built team. They look like world beaters in the regular season, but they have no defense and will likely be bounced out of the playoffs quickly. They tried to upgrade their pass rush and failed miserably, can't stop the run to save their lives, and teams are going to make Mahomes sit on the bench while they chew up clock and score, then when the time comes to play defense, they are going to rush him into mistakes and beat them.

He broke nfl records in his first year starting. What more do you want? A 23 year old to win a SB in his first year? If thats the bar, then basically 99.9% of QBs are "bums"

5000 yards and 50 TDs.
He is bettwr than any qb in the past 20 years who has not accomplished that.

They better work it out soon. When Mahomes comes due for a contract it's going to end the Chiefs, Flacco-style.

Hah, coming from you that is priceless. If the defense is bad enough the team isn't going to be competitive in the postseason. Except of course if you are a QB who shall remain nameless in which case you are responsible for carrying the weight of the whole team on your back and if the team fails it's all your fault.

I think you have me confused with someone else but it doesn't change the point: Defenses catch up with new stuff after a year or so.

He has a hurt ankle and holding a team to 31 is not figuring much out IMO.
Especially for a team that has averaged 8 points per game since that game.
eh..Mahones rarely has time to throw and the KC defense has regressed..cant stop the run

No, I know who you are but the other poster in this thread is on my blocked list so I couldn't respond directly to him so I had to do it through your post. No harm intended. You have always been more than fair in your assessment of that particular situation and your efforts to keep that thread under some sort of control

This offense got Alex over 4k yds. Alex is so overrated that they didn't get recognized for the miracle they pulled off. Alex sucks (just read any Chiefs/Redskins forum), so what Andy and that offense pulled off in 2017 is remarkable.

Mahomes is ridiculous, but I don't think the rest of that offense gets enough credit for his first season.
