According to an Inside the NFL segment tonight, Diddy has 0 chance of buying the Panthers, much less Kap or any other current NFL/NBA player.

You must be able to write a check for nearly 1 billion dollars (they said 800 million, but were estimating 2 billion sale price, when people a little more in the know estimate closer to 2.5), of which only 30% can be financed, and then you need to have have nearly that amount in liquid funds available after having written that check to have available to invest in the team. The owners then vet your business, behavioral, legal backgrounds and then no more than 9 owners can say no for any reason they see fit to say no, for you to get the team. Diddy is estimated to be worth 800 million ish, so doesn't even have half what he'd need and that would be every red cent that he owns.

In other words, unless you are a multi billionaire, like 3/3.5 minimum, it aint happening.

Did they mention partners in that segment?

No

So noone knows if he or Eddie could get investors or minority partners or not. Doesnt sound like as much of a long shot imo.

Jon Bon Jovi has a net worth that is half of what Diddy is valued at and yet nearly managed to buy the Bills and may look to get in on the Panthers action. Diddy could get the funds needed to make this deal happen if he wanted to like JBJ did. He would find investors/silent partners to make it work.

Getting the approval from other owners is a whole other ball game for Diddy though.

FWIW Forbes put out this article a couple days ago on potential buyers for the Panthers.

It is hard to imagine Eddie D in any situation in which he did not have the final say.

You dont think things could get worse? c'mon things are pretty good right now. If the Yorks sell the likelihood is surely that we get this year's Daniel Snyder, Jerry Jones etc etc. Look at how good life is for Browns fans, Haslam has a 19-70 record as team owner.
