Fans in general, all fan bases, just aren't patient and are reactionary to the extreme. Obviously there are exceptions. But every game thread for every team, regardless of the sport, consists of people microanalyzing and agonizing over every little thing that goes wrong and how that guy sucks.

Jimmy did a very good job for us here. Were and are there better quarterbacks? Of course. But when you find one who plays at a high enough level for you to win at a high level, it's not as easy as fans want to think to just "replace him with someone better."

We tried that obviously with Lance. And when it was all said and done Kyle didn't have as much faith in Trey as he did in Sam Darnold for crying out loud.

If Jimmy has an Alex Smith level career than he winds up being a very good NFL QB. Because Alex wound up being pretty good. His main problem was he was the number one overall pick in the NFL draft and when that's the case at that position, if you're not one of the league's best then you're a disappointment if not a bust in some eyes.

I'd say his main problem was he was a plus player as a 49er in 1.5 of the 8 years he was a 49er.

Hard to be a plus player with Mike Nolan trying to wreck his career.

Sure. I dont disagree. But that doesnt negate what I said.

Good Lord. What a train wreck that guy was. He and Dingleberry managed to set the team back by nearly a decade.

On another note. JG is going to lead the Raiders to a playoff berth. He might even win the AFC West. Long-suffering Raider fans will come to love the guy. Until he makes a typical Jimmy mistake.

to be fair to those guys, Nolan inherited maybe the biggest mess in franchise history, and the org evaluated Smith as better than Aaron Rodgers as a welcome present.

Never was beyond the fact that he was our quarterback. I was obsessed with stupid takes on him. But I'm the guy who said he played between top 11 and top 15 level in 2021 (with my little QB metric), so I'm far from a hater. I just get annoyed by Jimmy Club members.

EDIT: for the record, the only reason I'm here is to participate in the final few hundred posts on the way to 10,000.

"This loser" has won 71.6% of his games and gets paid handsomely to do so, while you cry over him on message boards

I usually stop following players when they leave my team.....but Jimmy's been an exception.

Totally agree, he shoots himself in the foot whenever they lose, well most of the time that, especially in the playoffs.
