1,250 passing yards by Garoppolo since Week 13 are the most by a 49ers quarterback in his first four starts in franchise history. Garoppolo surpassed Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner for the most passing yards by a quarterback in his first four starts with a new franchise (1,217).

Pretty good company.

I've also listened to every press conference he's done while with the Niners.

He has complimented the fans, he has complimented the organisation, he has complimented the weather. He's admitted he's having a lot of fun. His family have been flown out to 49er games decked out in 49er gear,

He's very business like and very modest. He's all ball and always focused on the next week - he's all in on the Rams game. He doesn't want any distractions. Similarly to how he reacted to the Carlos Hyde take of next season being Super Bowl contenders - he quickly shut that down - all about the next game - it's a very Patriots approach.

Literally this time next week he can focus on contract negotiations for the next 6 months - why worry about that now with a game still to play?

His confidence is borderline arrogance? Good. You know who else has that? The two best QBs in the NFL - Brady and Rodgers.

Read Michael Silver's column on Jimmy G, both Lynch and Shanahan are gushing over him and hugely complimentary, as are his teammates and the fanbase.

John Lynch said Jimmy loves it here - Peter King said he was euphoric when he found out he was traded here,

Here's what Jimmy G said before the Jacksonville game when asked about his long term future

"If we handle the Jaguars well, that'll be a good test for us, and finish out the season well, we'll figure it out after that."

I don't see anything wrong with that.

I realise we've been down in the past with terrible management etc but there's no need to lump the new regime in with that. Lynch and Shanahan want this guy around long term - it's going to get done.

yea it's a bill b thing... on to next game, Bill won't talk about anything except next game
Hey everyone. Merry Christmas. Full disclosure I'm a pats fan. Have been for about 25 years, and I'm 40. I just wanted to chime in about jimmy g. I'll keep it somewhat brief.
For starters, congrats to the 49er fans. Your wait for a competent qb is over. I hope you're excited. You should be. It's going to be amazing. It's going to be emotional. The highs will be high, and the lows, ya they will hurt Something fierce. But it's all worth it. It's a great time for you guys. Hope you're ready!
I was really hoping the pats would find a way to keep him. I Loved having him here, and truly thought he was Bradys successor. They tried, but In the end jimmy wanted to play. Not sit behind Brady anymore. I don't blame him.
Belichick did him a solid too, sending him there instead of Cleveland or some other crap organization.
Grops is in a great spot. He's in a great organization, with a great fan base who will chant MVP every game. Who will support him to a fault. When the league front office loses their minds and trys to derail the teams progress because they are tired of you winning all the time, which you're probably just cheating by the way, the fans will rise up and have jimmy g's back 100 percent.
I could go on for an hour but I'll wrap things up. I have no idea how jimmy will turn out. Not many people can truly say they do. But from what he's already shown us these past few weeks, and the games and practices I've seen, and learning from the best, safe to say he'll be good. Real fu@@@@@ good. Enjoy everyone. Get ready to run thru a wall!

I'd let him cut my hair before I listen to his "analysis".
Also, how are you guys so lucky with qbs? Montana, young, probably some others that I have no clue about, and now you're getting a young guy with huuge upside?? Must be the warm weather...

We have gotten Lucky with great coaches. They find the talented ones...

Bill Walsh and now Kyle Shanahan. People who can actually identify the traits they want and then utilze them.

No different than your very own BB!!! He is a great one...

Personally I stopped giving a s**t about draft position the second we got Jimmy and QB was no longer a need.

I didn't think we were going QB anyhow...just greedy and want to fleece another into many more picks with a top 5.

But I ain't complaining!

we're not THAT lucky. Look at the huge gap between young and montana. Garcia was the last promising one and kap was a flash in a pan. Well we are probably luckier than most franchises that have yet to find a good qb, but hell i was 3 or 4 when young retired so i had no recollection of a good qb.

To be fair Kyle wanted Cousins in the 4th round and not RG3.

Guys, Jimmy isn't going anywhere. In spite of him likely getting the money he wants, getting paired with an innovative offensive mind, living in a desirable area, and winning, he couldn't leave if he wanted to. We'd franchise tag him this year, transition tag him next year, and match any offer. Those who are afraid he's leaving need to calm down. The franchise tag is built to prevent franchise QB's from leaving.

I think all of those things are involved in why JG will stay in SF, but I think playing QB with Shanahan as coach/OC is probably the main reason. I've been impressed with John Lynch and how management seems to have made itself into a high quality regime, but Shanahan is the key. Shanahan is why Lynch wanted to become the 9ers GM. Shanahan is who York was willing to wait to hire even though waiting has its disadvantages. (I've been really hard on York in the past, but he definitely made the right decisions in the last offseason). And I think Shanahan will be the primary reason that JG will stay (that and I whole boatload of cash - but he's going to get a boatload of cash anyway, no matter where he ends up). Dynasties are built with pairings of coaches and QBs and these two could very well be the foundation for the next 9er dynasty. (We'll see.)

FWIW last Chicago Bears QB to make a Pro Bowl was Jim McMahon in 1985. So having back to back HOF QBs is like mind blowing.

Since 1985 49ers QBs have been named to 13 Pro Bowls.

Montana: 3
Young: 7
Garcia: 3
