If you're the Browns, wouldn't you badly want Jimmy on that contract?

They could trade a pick for him, start him games 1-11, go 11-0 and only owe him $10.85M.

I thought the contract would simply be $500K per start. $350K per start + win is extremely cheap.

This is a VERY tradable contract. I really don't get why people aren't talking about this angle more.

People are definitely talking about it, as misguided as it is.

Sure the Browns would love to have him on that contract. So would the 49ers. Are the Browns going to offer compensation that overcomes his value to the 49ers, when they have a backup with starter experience in place who has been there for the entire offseason program?

The answer is no.

How much would the Browns pay to prevent a wasted season if they start off slow?

Watson hasn't played in a long time and he can't even be in the facility until his suspension is over (and it is not crazy to think something else might come out between then and now). Panic could set in pretty early in Cleveland. Stupid Browns can't even tank for a good draft pick.

ROS is such a hater
"I told Jimmy, he came in here the first week of training camp, like I told you guys, we would talk. We talked regularly because he was up here, he wasn't in meetings or practice, but I remember the first week of training camp me saying to Jimmy like, 'Hey, if you don't like any of these opportunities, if you don't go to the place you want, you can't get the contract that you want, we would love to have you here as a backup in a backup role. I want you to know that we feel that way,"

What do you think a realistic price is for a 5-6 game rental QB who would serve as injury insurance should Watson get hurt when he comes back?

Is that price high enough for the 49ers to agree to give away their own QB injury/poor play insurance in a year they're poised to make a deep run?

It isn't difficult to see how far fetched this is.

Ium maybe the two years he coached a hofer wr and matt ryan. Other than that i think his experience around mobile qbs is limited to rg3. Which was a disaster. So i dont think we can say what his " real " preference. Just saying after 5 years of jimmy it will take him a while to install a mature offense for lance. Hes dumbing everything down now. A little better than last year but what can you really do with 16 games in 3 years, 6 being preseason.

His dad coached and won with Steve Young and John Elway. With those two guys having elite traits in both the run and the pass as has Trey, there were plays he could call and expect to work at a high efficiency that I am not sure you call with Jimmy. The offense is fundamentally of the same philosophy BUT when you have elite traits you can stress a defense and impact a defense in multiple ways

channelling 1994 dad is part of the playbook? You're stretching. Anyway, the trey lance experiment is to keep him in the pocket so he develops like Tom Brady but is a tank instead of a nondescript athlete.

That makes the 7 million a literal steal.

Nah man, because the drop from 1 to 15 isn't linear. Jimmy's worth exactly what he's now making.

That might even be better than if Trey does it. Jimmy gets to leave town a winner, and all the lambs, tardinals and seachicken fans get to choke on a mountain of crow.

no one said the door was absolutely closed either.. though the odds of him coming back at full salary was a lottery hit

You said plenty more than this and you know that. Just stop pretending that you don't hate Jimmy, we all know you do. Keep your same weird energy or admit you were wrong. But when you talk out of both sides of your mouth on a day to day basis, people are going to call you out. It's not just me either.

And I said plenty of good things though out the years and this off season when discussing trade…you conveniently forget to post or talk about any of that. Why???

like I said you've fabricated some little fantasy world where if you're not 100% in love with Jimmy you hate him. It's pathetic and sad. There's no reason for you and I to have any discussion on this or really any topic in here when that how you go about things in here. Imo it might be best if I just mute you….I got plenty of posters in here I can talk to and have good object conversations with. You simply are incapable of it.

so cheers go Niners and all their players. See ya later

Get a room. The conversations you two have with each other, no one cares.

Au contraire mon frere. Me =

I'm gonna be happy no matter who is our QB if we win it all. I want an excuse to put a Jimmy poster in my room. He would forever be my favorite player if that happened.

Agree it isn't likely, just a hypothetical. Browns don't need injury insurance for Watson, they may need have-enough-wins-before-Watson-can-come-back insurance.

I for one hope they fail miserably in all areas, but Browns do really stupid stuff and they definitely think they are superbowl contenders with Watson back and won't want to waste it.
