They could trade a pick for him, start him games 1-11, go 11-0 and only owe him $10.85M.

I thought the contract would simply be $500K per start. $350K per start + win is extremely cheap.

This is a VERY tradable contract. I really don't get why people aren't talking about this angle more.

Because of the no trade clause he had them put in to not trade him?

That is a rather odd spin considering what has been said by multiple sources.

That's only put in there for Jimmy to waive when he likes the potential suitor

I think that since Jimmy still hasn't been given a playbook, Shanny and Lynch know this is a VERY tradable contract...

Lol he didn't need a playbook

Pretty sure Jimmy has the offense down. If he is there for week one install then that's all he will need.

NTC's can be waived. And in Jimmy's case, it a team comes calling asking for a starting QB, he's waiving the NTC 9 times out of 10 because the odds of him earning those incentives on the bench for us are slim.

i'm just repeating what Kyle said in the conference call, minus my analogy... but Kyle did say jimmy was waiting for other QB to get hurt and when it didn't happen.. the negotiations began

People are definitely talking about it, as misguided as it is.

Sure the Browns would love to have him on that contract. So would the 49ers. Are the Browns going to offer compensation that overcomes his value to the 49ers, when they have a backup with starter experience in place who has been there for the entire offseason program?

The answer is no.

I didn't think they expected the QB market to be this soft however it happens when you have legends playing to 45 and a huge rookie crop last year every team wanting to give those guys a fair shake. This is how HOF Ryan goes for a 3rd and Baker goes for a conditional 2055 11th round selection. Not just us or JG.

Yep.

I mean....I agree with you 49F6. Completely.

But you basically just listed reasons why you agree with what I said....that Shanahan NEVER anticipated this was realistic.

He's not going to wave it to go to the Seahawks or browns. He gave us a discount. His price goes up 50% to play for a team that sucks. He would have gotten that on the open market.

Yeah sure he will wave it to go to a team that's good with a potential to win a sb. Who wouldn't.

Other teams have to want him.
I've been waiting on this joke "So the "he's made the 53 man roster' domino has fallen, trade in coming? LOL Seriously I'm a Jimmy fan and always will be, but I'm also for moving on if it's not working out. I'm just happy I can enjoy 98% of Jimmy's highlights (and they may not be done yet), unlike CK who I will never watch again!
