eh, we can't really comment on that. we have 0 idea. all we saw was him pumping iron. there was never any issue about him not comprehending a playbook or any plays

But Kap did it his first year, Nfc Champion.

Jimmy has it all, don't get me wrong but when we start contending, will we be 1st round knock outs for a year or two then compete for a championship?

Fact is we don't know, playoffs is a whole different platform with different grading system as far as the intensity and pressure on these Qb's. We can talk about pocket presence til we are blue in the face, my point is that Kap did it early and took us far, for whatever reasons he was the Qb.

Kap gave us a banner, Just saying. Let's pump the brakes that's all.

I'm just as thrilled as everyone else but let's not go overboard by sending shots.

Kaep did it with a championship team and failed when the team started to weaken

No doubt JG does even better with that same team kaep had

As happy as I was with this trade, I never expected these kind of discussions.

Not unlike the previous qb we have had. But it sounds like he's more into the mental aspect of the game, not so much the physical since he already has that.

Actually there were sources that said Kaepernick did not put in the film study that the 49ers wanted to see. He was a very hard worker in the weight room, but didn't spend enough time in the film room.

No other Qb took us further than Kap other than Steve Young over twenty years. Lol

The fact is, Kap got us a banner and did on the fly. Imagine Trent was smart enough to surround him with talent?

Now that was the real problem..

I'm more interested in how will we surround Jimmy.. because the other gm sucked at that. Miserably...

That other gm talked about Cooper and Bechem and did nada, then pissed away the picks on acl risks. Facts

He was a one trick pony and they only take you to a few towns.. we finally have a real quarterback. a real leader that the team will follow and not just pay lip service to

Now that was the real problem..

In 2012 they had one of the top three most talented rosters in football. The team was two Kyle Williams miscues from getting to a SB just a year earlier.


Lets not revise history and act like the 49ers weren't one of the most talent laden rosters from 2011 to 2013.


What I do know is that there is no way that Alex Smith, Shaun Hill, Kaepernick, Blaine Gabbert, JT O'Turnover or whatever other ghosts of QBs past you want to pick would be having these same kinds of results that Garoppolo has had throwing to receivers like Goodwin, Taylor and Celek with guys like Tomlinson and Beadles blocking.

Kap had PLENTY of talent around him. Thats why he was so successful in 2012 and 2013. Our defense, Our OL, and Frank Gore had as much to do with our success as anyone. Kap was a flash in the pan. He caught the league off guard and shredded defenses until they made adjustments. After the adjustments, he had no answer.

Sounds like poor excuses for a GM who wasted how many picks and couldn't draft a wr to save his life..

Defense failed us when it counted. If it wasn't for kap in Seattle we would have not been in the game.

Not sure I would include Wilson on this list. Although he is great, he is not a Shanahan QB. No Brady either because of the age factor.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I didn't mean necessarily to fit our offense. I mean in general as a top NFL QB.

I would leave Wilson off of this list. Without his mobility, he would probably drop out of the top 10 QB discussion. I agree with leaving Brady off because of age, it will catch up to him here soon. Would not take Wentz over him either, lets see him do what he is doing without those weapons. For me, that just leaves Rodgers, he's the best of the best right now.

But Jimmy is already looking to be special, so this whole discussion is meaningless. Just pay the man and lets get to building this team!

Irrespective of who the GM was, would you not agree that the 49ers in 2012 had one of the most loaded rosters in football? Yes or No?

2012 we had a very well put together offense but that's it. Baalke relied on cheap fa pickups, trades like Ginn, Manningham, Moss, Q, Johnson, etc. You don't build success that way. For the most part it was the d that carried us to our success like and that's why we got deep in the playoffs with 2 average qb's.

Jimmy has the chance to be something special. No need to hate on Kap, Alex, Garcia they all gave us some good years but here's to hoping Jimmy can do better.

They need to chill on this stuff. From the patriot perspective, this would be like the Niners choosing Steve over Joe in 1990. You don't replace an all timer who's still performing at that level without an extended period of injury. For the niners to pick Steve it took a year long injury and Steve won 2 passing title and an MVP.
