Proyally because they thought Lance wouldn't be ready and Jimmy would be better but we all know how that turned out. I honestly think Shanahan is a bigger problem than Jimmy. Jim was in a spread system and had success airing it out early with us, Shanahan's offense is dink and dunk. The myth that Jimmy can't throw deep is way overblown

He's not the worst starting QB in 49er history due to guys like Cody Pickett, but the most overrated? Yea, probably. Outside of this fanbase, Jimmy is a consensus bottom 5-7 starting QB and the others around him are all rookies or career backups. The media thinks he's trash, the fans of other teams think he's trash, the analytics community thinks he's trash, the coaches around the league think he's trash, and the players think he's trash. Everyone thinks he's trash yet there were actually people here that were so delusional as to think Jimmy might win MVP this year.
