Every NFL game is played in a vacuum. Every game is a different game plan for a different team. Just like the Saints had a great game plan against the Packers, the Eagles had a great game plan against the Niners. Sometimes you have to tip your hat to a coaching staff. Games are a week to week affair, generally speaking. Their are few NFL teams that just flat out suck. Even the Texans gave the Browns a scare yesterday.

Some of you guys are infuriating to read. Haters through and through. Jimmy had 2 TDs this game, was responsible for multiple 3rd and 4th down conversions and had the most rushing yards for the team in the first half. Every QB isn't going to go for 300 YDS and 5 TDS. We weren't playing the Falcons. The Eagles will never be as good this season as when we played them. They have a new coaching regime, they came off of a big road win where they dominated, they were hosting fans for the first time in 600+ days at their home opener and they were feeling like Cinderella. Sports is 50% talent and 50% confidence and the second half of that equation can win you multiple games if the first is lacking a little.

Jimmy did what he needed to do to get us the win. He and the team proved that they can win these down and dirty slug fests. We took Philly's soul in their own house. Especially on that 4th down goal line stop. Then Jimmy marched 90+ yards down the field--twice and then scored. That will straight out take the soul out of hardened men. They gave us everything they had and we still beat them. This was a playoff type game.

I'm confident that we can win every game on our schedule now and especially so with Jimmy.

Lol you don't like it so it's BS…good talk. Also never said he was bad, I gave credit to those two drives and I thought he played well vs DET (go look it up). ya'll are so dramatic.

half you people had no problem s**tting on Kyle and the D week 1 despite the W all the same. You guys have no problem being critical there…yet crickets with Jimmy when he doesn't play that well overall.

Like I said there was a lot of poop in between those two long drives though. SF can't play like that (Jimmy can't) if we want to beat some of the top teams in the league. Period.

It has nothing to do whether I like it or not.Quite frankly I don't give a s**t what his average air yards per passing attempt is and I find that kind of hair splitting analysis to be a bit of a joke. "On Sunday afternoons in alternating months, when the temperature is over 65 degrees Jimmy has an adjusted QBR of 37." You can make stats tell any kind of story you want as long as you choose your answer in advance and then go out and find the stats that will support that story. That's a favorite past time of a lot of posters in here. This particular stat doesn't seem to take into account the fact that Philly's defense was playing a hell of a game by slowing down the running game which affected the the team's play action game which is where a lot of their passing yards come from. None of this stuff exists in a vacuum and yet people try and pass these things off as if they really have some kind of deeper meaning in the context of a game that is being played between the lines by real human beings subject to human error and injury and not by some statistical model generated on a computer. Like I said, the only stat that matters at this point is 2-0. Now it's on to Green Bay. Go Niners!!

so no I'm not making up anything. I have no narrative I watch the games and see what he's asked to do….fans for the most part can't be objective on players though and it's pretty clear in here.

Who wrote this b******t? It reads like salty Jimmy hater cherry-picking and making up stats.

Hey man, when you throw a piss poor ball or make a horrible read but it doesn't equal a TO, that doesn't make it a good play either.

youre super defensive this morning.

and you rail against a poster for making a "subjective" post about Lance yet you make them all the time. your whole take about Mahomes wouldve been just as successful had he not sat was not any different and just as subjective.

C'mon. We've beaten really good teams with our QB not having to do.much and there's been gripes about it.

We don't always need spectacular QB play to beat upper echelon teams. We've proven that over and over.

Yeah. I think it's fair to say, JG has looked good and bad so far through two weeks of football. Hopefully he can take that next step and be more consistent with his throws..

This, 100%. The strength of the Eagles completely dictated what we could do. If we constantly do 3-5 step drops against that Jimmy G (any quarterback really) would still be in Philly, only as part of the field. We had to use their strength against them and that is why we had to go heavy with screens. Notice it wasn't until they had to defend the screen that everything else opened up. It's not always gonna be sexy but as long as we get the W it shouldn't matter. The encouraging thing is that our offense is able to grind it out until things start to open up. Sure, it's nice to dictate what happens on offense but that's not going to happen against a defense like philly.

Well said. This is the aspect of the nfl that the average fan doesn't understand. It was a huge win for building confidence in this team. There are new players that need to build that swag and this game was perfect for that.

How it any different then when someone says AA/McG or any other 49er suck (not saying JG sucked but he was far from great), yet they won?

it's okay to be critical of players, especially your $100M QB. He had a couple great drives, which ultimately got us the W. That's awesome and i give him credit for that….The rest of the game wasn't pretty imo. Gotta play better overall if we want to beat good teams and contend in this division.

Good question, go ask the "Jimmy is trash" crowd. Critical is one thing, but hyper critical is just dumb. All the guy does is convert third downs and win games. I don't think he's nearly as bad as the crowd who can't differentiate between Madden, fantasy, and real football seems to. Nobody who knows football cares about style points, they care about results.

Great you don't care…doesn't make it not important or add context to everything overall.

If you think they can beat the big dogs playing like that week in & week out fine, some people don't think so.

Excellent football-intelligent posts here - both.

I'll take wins like yesterday all day, every day, and twice on Sundays. Yes, it was nerve-racking to watch as a fan. A grind-it-out victory and it's great to see the Niners be able to do that and get the W against a pretty tough D & a team with a new coaching staff that's having its home opener.

Yesterday's game was a very good display of complementary football from the Niners - in all three phases. Again, something I like to see, and especially with ST doing its part.
