And given just last week we were universally hand wringing the OL play, I'm chalking this one up to OL still getting their s**t together.

Now that we've lost Garland, are people going to argue Jimmy can save an offense anchored by Grasu?

We don't expect a Bosa-type pass rush without a Bosa. How do we then expect great OL play without a starting center (Richburg)?

Good post - very fair.

This team needs a young stud center that can anchor the line for the next 10 years. I know they're hard to find but they can make a huge difference. They not only call the signals but they can stop that rush up the middle. It takes some of the pressure off the guards so they can help out in other places. It's not a glamorous position but great lines nearly always have a great center. The Steelers nearly always have a great one (like Mike Webster). Those old Raiders teams in the 70's had one of the greatest ever (Jim Otto). The Niners had a real stud when the had Forrest Blue.

Jeremy Newberry was pretty good before his ankles were run through a meat grinder with all those high ankle sprains.

Yes he was. Unfortunately he took a pain killer in order to keep playing and it destroyed his kidneys. Last I heard he has to go for regular dialysis.

Ya you sound like a big jimmy fan lol

JD - I would kiiiiiill to have Newberry in his prime right now.

Me too, meeeee toooo. That's who Richburg was supposed to be. I didn't know that about his kidneys mentioned above. That sucks big time. Makes you understand a LOT more why a guy like Willis would hang it up early. If his feet were really bothering him and he was around guys who dealt with things like that, yeah, at some point it makes you realize those 2 years of playing aren't worth a lifetime of something like that. Or not being able to play with your kids cause you can barely walk anymore.

That O-line back in the early 2000's was legit. I was a big Derrick Deese fan too.

Newberry...Deese...those guys were nasty in the trenches! They had that edge to them to go with their talent. Kind of guys who are going to battle every play and all game long.

Gotta hope this current OL can continue to improve in working together and can build off of a pretty good performance last Sunday. Garoppolo is going to need it.

I was gonna say lol. The whole idea of "Kyle doesn't trust Jimmy" is so strange. How egotistical do you have to be to think you can get into the mind of a genius NFL head coach and have any idea about his thoughts and feelings on his QB and level of trust in him? Comedy.

Down the field,... Why should they respect them?

That may have been the worst post in the history of posts. I literally poured bleach over my eyes after reading that. Now I'm blind, but I don't care because i never have to read that post again.
