Ive been a jimmy defender but I am going to maintain a healthy level of skepticism of him moving forward.

Mental damage, bad coaching, injuries...some combination thereof? We'll never know, but it seems at this point that he may be a lost cause.
Actually, if they cut him he'll probably go back to NE and win 3 championships
I dont think he's ever recovered mentally from the torn ACL. His lower body is either completely vertical or backpedaling when he throws. Unless you step into your throws, you can't be a quality QB in this league. He can still throw the quick hitting slant over the middle but opposing D coordinators are/have figured this out. Jimmy has no answer.

Hard to know if the problem is Kyle, the OL, the ACL, or Jimmy himself.
My sense is that Jimmy is a #15-20 QB in this league who needs things around him to be close to perfect to thrive. He needs protection because he is jittery and doesn't like contact. He also lets hits affect his psyche. I don't think Kyle is the right OC/HC for him either. Jimmy would probably do well in NE because Belichick understands the concept of adjusting the plan to maximize the talent you have, rather than trying to force fit players to your system.

so yeah, i know you guys are emotional, are relishing this opportunity to s**t all over Jimmy, but regardless of what you think and what you want to call it the fact is his ankle is obviously bothering him and he will address his play himself. whether you want to label it as an "eXcuSE" or not have at it. but that's the reality of it.
not ready to move onto someone else yet, but at this point, the injuries are becoming a concern because he IS being affected by them always on 1 way or the other. and it's getting old.
and then you have a guy like Russell wilson who is practically injury proof. so yeah, that's the most frustrating thing.
So how was he throwing it in practice? The ankle was fine during the week and just today it affected him throwing?
IDK, live bullets are a different thing. it's just mainly "reps" at practice. everything during practice is "on schedule". but the matter of the fact is the ankle was clearly affecting the ball and Kyle said that is not how Jimmy normally throws the ball
They just shouldn't have put him out there to begin with if it was the ankle affecting him still

I'm done defending jimmy. Hes been broken since the acl injury. I've been one of his biggest supporters, but I'm running out of excuses for him. Hes just not right mentally anymore.

I like Jimmy, I really do. But can't keep defending him. I get it's not all his fault, but to a point I'm just done

If what Matt Maiocco reports are fact (and I don't have a reason to doubt him) in that Garoppolo couldn't finish practices because of his ankle, then he shouldn't be out there in the first place. His mechanics aren't Montana-esque to begin with, but when you can't even really plant your leg and drive off of it, then it's really a bad decision all around to have him out there.
It didn't matter much anyways because today was an implosion really all around.

There isn't a QB in the league, backups included, that this couldn't describe.
I think Jimmy is better than this, but if what you described is what Jimmy is, then it would be inexcusable to not look at other options in the offseason.

Ever since the ACL injury. He has lost zip on his passes, his progression reading got worse, Is pocket awareness got worse, and his technique got worse. And we are paying him 24 million dollars. Like I said before and I think if we looked it up I was talking about trading for Jimmy before the rumor started flying in this forum. But it's time to move on We only have a short Super bowl window. We have the right talent with offensive weapons, and when healthy we have the right defense. All we are missing is interior offensive line and a quarterback

I get that. But, Shanahan makes such wussy decisions. Let him stay in, and figure it out. You can't pull your "Franchise QB" when things dont go well. Every great QB has had a bad half, or a bad game. Give him the freaking chance to figure it out. Let him go out there and lead. He can do It. But Shanahan keeps pulling his legs out from under him.
The QB that Shanahan wants, is not the QB that we are used to. He doesn't want a leader. He doesn't want someone to go in, make reads, change plays, and be like Brady, Montana or anyone else.
He wants a "talking head" basically let Shanahan do everything and you just throw the ball.
Jimmy is a leader. He's a thermostat. he will make the team better but Kyle has to give him that opportunity. You can't bench him or take him out when the season is still young, and they can work through it together. Ridiculous.

I have a feeling if Jimmy doesn't last here, he'll straight back to NE.

we can trade him, pettis and a 2nd for the Patriots 1st round and 4th..
we can then send our 1st, (if we're drafting between 7 and 20) and the Patriots's 1st rounder to Green Bay for Aaron Rodgers.
GB can start the LOVE era.
We can have Aaron and concentrate on the secondary and OL in the draft.
