You never hear it about Mahomes having Reid, Brees has Payton, Brady had McDaniels etc. He only has 1 full year as a starter, but the double standard is ridiculous.

I heard people say the same things about those guys but not as often. The reason probably is that they have all won at least won SB and they all have had some monster seasons. Jimmy just hasn't gotten to their level yet. Then you have the Kyle factor. He's considered by many to be the best offensive mind in the game today so you can't dismiss his influence.

I suppose, but it shouldn't be an asterisk for Jim and not anybody else. If he wins SB MVP next year are they gonna loop Shanahan into that too? Lol

I have a weird feeling that this year our run game is going to come down to earth a little bit. We're going to have to lean on Jim quite a bit more than last year, which could help his development and the young receivers.
Imagine thinking Jimmy isn't a top 10 QB. Sorry just couldn't ever take you serious when it comes to football evaluation

A little bit of everything is going to come back down to earth this year. The league wont think the Niners are pretenders for over half a season.

Definitely have to show some new wrinkles to stay on top of the NFC.

First place schedule too. Tight games, more throws in the 2nd half and late in the game for Jimmy to rack up yards/TDs and get us the W if he has to.

The difference between number 9 and number 12 probably isn't great so I could see him anywhere in that group. It's a bigger jump to get in the top 5 but all these lists are subjective. You could ask 100 football people whothe top 5 were and you wouldn't get the same list. Same for top 10.

Exactly. Jimmy is a fringe top 10 QB IMO, but if I really sat down and put a list together, I would probably have him around 12, which shouldn't be considered an insult.

12 is fair imo. I think that's where I'd put him also.
The Athletic has the QB rankings article out today based on NFL coaches and evaluators: https://theathletic.com/1945894/. Garoppolo comes in the third tier, #17 overall.

Tier 1: Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers, Brees, Watson
Tier 2: Brady, Jackson, Roethlisberger, Stafford, Ryan, Wentz, Prescott, Rivers
Tier 3: Murray, Cousin, Goff, Garoppolo, Tannehill, Newton, Carr, Mayfield, Allen, Bridgewater, Darnold, Jones, Foles
Tier 4: Mariota, Fitzpatrick, Taylor, Lock, Minshew, Trubisky, Haskins, Stidham, Allen
No say Watson is Tier 1. I'd put him tier 2 which is also where I think JG falls

Agreed. Another shaft job. Watson is so overhyped. He's good, but he's not on the level on the guys in tier 1 by a long shot.

aren't jimmy and watson's numbers the same? except for watson's rushing yards of course. don't understand the big disparity

Wow that's pretty bad. Who made this list needs to go back and watch more film. No way is Dak that high. And Lock should be in tier 3. Jimmy is good right there.

Although I'd respectfully disagree the people that give a Jimmy his due credit aren't the ones that I have an issue with it's the people who call him "Blake Bortles with a better coach" or some "weak link" which is utterly laughable are the ones I can't ever take serious

I think there is a real case to be made that Rodgers & Watson should be tier 2. I love Rodgers but he clearly wasn't the same player last year as he was in the past, I watched many of his games.

Prescott, wentz, and rivers should be tier 3. Wentz hasn't been the same since his injury. Rivers is so damn inconsistent and pushing 40. Prescott is a clown.

I'd say jimmy G should be tier 2.
