Game frustrated me. No kind of cohesive play On either side of the ball (which is understandable), they didn't play particularly great and as the game went along I actually thought this would be their first loss. And if I re all that game, despite the conditions, went super fast

We all are. Some of us just refuse to put down other QBs to prop ours up.
I'm so tired of all that s**t that the national media give to Garoppolo. A bunch of guys like Nick Wright and Grant Cohn who probably never played organized sports in their lives, except maybe tennis or golf, and think they're just the last word on what makes a good QB in this league. Almost all of them point to the playoffs and Garoppolo's limited pass attempts as "proof" that Shanahan doesn't trust him. Even Bucky Brooks, who did use to play and ought to know better, has used this line of attack. They were running for 250 yards a game, they were dominating the clock and beating down opponents who couldn't stop them, what do they need to pass for. I will happily concede that Jimmy's game is still a work in progress. I'd like to see more consistency on his deep passes and I'd like to see him cut down on those head scratching interceptions where he just doesn't seem to see the defensive player standing right in the spot where he wants to throw the ball. Other than that I have no real issues with him at all. He beat Drew Brees head up in a shoot out and is absolutely money on 3rd down, not quite sure what more you could ask for.

Russell Wilson was an unfinished QB for a few years when Seattle was at their best. The way to stop them on offense was to keep Wilson in the pocket and make him beat you throwing from there....he has developed far beyond that guy. He will absolutely beat you that way if you give him time.

He's a corn ball but he's a terrific QB at this point and I think anyone thinking he struggles with our roster assuming he learns the offense is just being a homer.

Having said that much like Wilson improved as a pocket passer, Jimmy can make similar if not better improvements as a pocket passer. He'll never be the scrambler that Wilson is but as I said before we don't need that in this offense.

If Jimmy cuts down his turnovers, learns to read and manipulate the defense better and improves his deep ball we'll have ourselves a terrific QB. Assuming we're healthy I think we see him take a big step forward this season.

Remember the golden rule about mobile QBs:

There will always be an element of their mobility to their greatness, ALWAYS. I would say Steve Young was an exception to this rule, sue me if you think I'm being a homer. Him making some epic late game runs were not a constant like Wilson just running to make the offense work.

So what that means is that Wilson could never be Brees or Brady at their advanced ages. He's done well enough to make things happen the way they are, but if he lost all that mobility overnight his performance would drop hard as well.

Guys like Garoppolo, Brady, Brees had no choice but to be good from the pocket. So the expectation is that they'll have more potential to improve in that aspect.

Whether that's enough to make them better than the new wave of mobile QBs is a good question, but to me there's no way Murray, Lamar Jackson, Wilson, Mahomes, will ever truly be pocket surgeons like the all time greats are. Just impossible. 20+ years of being able to use their legs is a luxury you can't ever really throw away.

Yeah i definitely wasn't a fan of the game as it was happening. But once it was done it was great. And yeah it went by super fast. 2 hours 36 minutes. Shortest game ever was 2 hours 29 minutes.

But having said that...I don't wanna see us deal with these conditions more often than not. Weather is the ultimate equalizer and considering we're one of the most talented teams in the league I'd rather not have elements coming into play.

I tear Wilson down to show he's been overrated most of his career, and that all started 8 years ago when .NET s**tted on Kap when he was doing well against the rest of the league.

Wilson got away with being labeled a game manager early on because he could always make a cool highlight worthy throw or two.
Jimmy G gets a lot of hate for a guy that has a 23-6 record as a starter and took his team to the super bowl after his first full season as a starter. I bet a lot of teams wished they were in our shoes.

Be careful, I got a ton of flack for giving JG a hard time after the super bowl loss (Imo, I am still right to say he was s**t in the 4th).

The logic of: Of course we would we love to see him grow and TEAR IT UP next season, learning from the humbling experience he had last year, but we can only go by what we've seen so far.

Agreed, it was frustrating watching it live but when it was over it made for a good rewatch

Jimmy G. or Russell Wilson would be a very hard decision if I had to decide between the two. In all honesty though, unbiased opinion, I would probably give the edge to Jimmy G as my QB, only because of what he did in his first full season as a starter. Gotta admit, starting his first full season and taking his team to the Super Bowl is pretty damn impressive. Wilson vs. Denver wasn't all that impressive at all to be honest, seriously, 200 yards and two TD's, while Denver was held to 8 points, that was ALL defense in that game. BUT, Wilson IMO, is still one of the best QB's in the NFL, definitely top 5.

Sorry guys. This is absurd. I have no problem with liking Jimmy more. I like Jimmy more. But Russ is an MVP candidate every year. Jimmy has never played at that level.

Give Jimmy G. 4 full seasons and see if this is still absurd.

So Jimmy is slightly ahead, or he needs 3 more full seasons to be slightly ahead?

Because you have said both now, and they contradict each other.

How do they contradict each other?? I haver no doubt in my mind if Jimmy G. stays healthy he'll be right there with Russell Wilson in contending every season. Its simple, when Jimmy G. starts, he wins.

Give Wilson his due. For the amount of talent he has, he keeps them in games. However that said, he has played in this league and as a starter for a long time now. Sherman harped on Wilson in the beginning. Wilson has grown. Jimmy will to. They are different players though. He was like Fran tarkenton, but a better passer, his ability to escape to buy more time, but keep his eyes downfield and cause coverages to breakdown is what makes him good. Jimmy has a quick release, his understanding the offense better will help be even more accurate and make better decisions. If Trent becomes back healthy, those mistakes and interceptions will also drop. Not to mention of the other injure players that were not there who could cause problems for the opposition. JM and Hurd.

I have praised Wilson. Again I'm comparing the two, I'm just saying which one I preferred. I also went as far as to call Wilson a top 5 QB in this league. Jimmy G. is probably borderline top 10.

I'll never forget this game just from the standpoint that I was out there in that tsunami and ended up with pnuemonia...hell could have been covid for all we know lol

but that slop definitely was the entire reason this game was closer than it should have been. it was terrible but a W nonetheless.
JG has only played one full season, which was last year.

Trust me, I have been getting a ton of flack too......because in spite of the fact that I repeatedly have said that I like Jimmy and expect great things out of him, I get called a hater because:

a) I think he had a major part in us losing a winnable Superbowl
b) I refuse to make excuses for him
c) I refuse to tear down other QBs in order to prop Jimmy up

Why is it, whenever the thought of Jimmy getting better or succeeding on his own merit is brought up, the media has to qualify it with Shanahan as the main reason for it?

You never hear it about Mahomes having Reid, Brees has Payton, Brady had McDaniels etc. He only has 1 full year as a starter, but the double standard is ridiculous.
