I think the national narrative is so strong he would have to have 40 TDs and 0 Ints to be in consideration.

He's not fighting against logic and reason. He's fighting against perception.

You see it as, Jimmy had us up 10 points going into the 4th. I see it as, the defense holding arguably the best offense in the nfl this past year to 10 points going into the 4th quarter. Our defense had patrick Mahomes at a stat line of like 200 yards 0 TD 2 INT... Don't think hes had a stat line that bad ever, even when they trailed by 20+ points to houston.

Our defense was lights out for 3 quarters.. Our offense was given a 10 point cushion to play with, run the clock, make the passes that needed to be made...

Don't get in a position where you need your QB to drop a dime?? Mahomes dropped a ball to Hill which is ultimately why they won the superbowl off that 3rd and 15 conversion... If Jimmy G drops his dime like mahomes did, to Sanders, we are superbowl champions and not the kansas city chiefs

Da fuq? Please, please tell me how that Mahomes pass was "a dime". Moseley blew the coverage and Hill had 10+ yards on everybody.

Just say Mahomes made a play from the pocket. Don't add hysterics that don't fit.

Sure, regardless, the point still stands. Sander's also had his man beat as well. Both WR's were coming up in the big moment to make plays, only one of the quarterbacks delivered. Mahomes' throw was easier, but it was still from a 3rd and 15 standpoint with the game on the line.

+1. You can also see the lack of football knowledge immediately stand out in such posts.

Ah yes, because the date you join the 49ers webzone forums is the date you became or become a fan. I forgot about this rule. Better tell my family to sign up quick as well I suppose otherwise they aren't "fans" just yet.

Where is the lack of knowledge? Nothing I said is un-true, not one part. Maybe the way you perceive those stats and facts is different than the way I perceive them, but if thats the case, explain how your perception makes better sense than my perception. I would love to have a discussion with you about it.

For the public it's all about numbers. He had an above average season numbers wise and was on one of the best running teams and defenses in the NFL. It's not surprising why he has this perception.

Regarding Garoppolo's mobility, he can be mobile enough when needed and can shift around in the pocket to create space - he's definitely not a statue back there. The injury didn't help things as he was a pretty athletic QB before the injury. I'm thinking this upcoming season and beyond as he's further removed from the injury he'll be moving around better...maybe not quite like his pre-injury self but not far from that.

Tough to tell but he may be right.

there's no way for us as fans to know what exactly the progression was, and where Jimmy was at and ultimately decided with his progression.

you guys are judging from the Broadcast. wait until the all22 is posted on here to see from thl or jonny.

Just reading your posts, it stands out clear as day. Been watching football closely for 44 years so just calling it like I see it. Not going to dissect your posts sentence by sentence - not worth my time - but when I see B.S. comments from you like, "Make no mistake about it, we were a quarterback away from winning the superbowl", that's all I need to read.

Correct, Jimmy had his chance to prove the media/critics wrong and he failed miserably.

Jimmy G with *NO Pressure:

86% comp
199 yards
1 TD
119.5 passer rating

Jimmy G when *UNDER PRESSURE:
11% comp
20 yards
2 INT, 1 SK
0.0 passer rating

I'm sorry but pressure is inevitable in the game of football. It's not as if Jimmy wasn't being protected throughout the game, he was. The times he was pressured he folded up and didn't/wouldn't get the ball out of his hands quickly enough and accurately enough.

A part from PFF website about the game "When the Chiefs' pass rush hit home on Jimmy Garoppolo, he folded. Garoppolo completed just one of his nine attempts under pressure for 20 yards and two interceptions. The difference between how he handled the pocket breaking down compared to Mahomes is a big reason that Mahomes and the Chiefs were the ones lifting the Lombardi Trophy."

In this case, I don't think so. Any time the numbers are on Garoppolo's side the counter argument is... "well, that's just any QB in Shanahan's system. I don't know that this makes Garoppolo special."

Ahh yes The typical "I know more than you, but I don't need to explain it to the likes of you". If that was the case, why bother replying in the first place? Maybe you should adopt a twitter account rather than partake on a forum that sounds better for that type of an attitude.

Simple answer, if we trade QB's with KC that game, we are superbowl champions.

In case you missed it, from PFF "You can look at performance under pressure for both quarterbacks as one of the biggest deciding factors in the game. When the Chiefs' pass rush hit home on Jimmy Garoppolo, he folded. Garoppolo completed just one of his nine attempts under pressure for 20 yards and two interceptions. The difference between how he handled the pocket breaking down compared to Mahomes is a big reason that Mahomes and the Chiefs were the ones lifting the Lombardi Trophy."

I posted a pic in the previous page of the moment Jimmy threw the ball on that play. It's a three route horizontal stretch so the progression is either inside-out, or outside-in. Based on what Jimmy did, I think it's inside-out.
