Don't people remember the 3rd preseason is typically "dress rehearsal" game? it's when the starters play the most.

of course this is the truth

People are really over-reacting to that game about Jimmy G.

i think its legit to be concerned by the line. the play calling and jimmy himself. in that order

crying about 6 plays seems rather...irrational

That is what I was getting at. Shanny clearly held the offense back, but it didn't look like Fangio held his boys back, at least not the starters. It looked like our offense got schemed. But folks complaining about 6 plays of a guy coming off a major knee injury is pretty petty.

in my defense.. i did put jimmy blame at the tail end of that list

Yup. Isn't this where he blew out his knee? He's throwing him in the fire. I like it.

he was going to play him more the 3rd preseason game than any other regardless of where it took place.

yes, same place where dent broke his leg in 94 in a god awful young vs joe loss, i saw the niners, a good niner team get blown out down there in 98. but then i took my daughter to her first niner game down there. pre season, the first year of dennis erickson i think. niners won but what i remember is during pre game. tony parrish and julian peterson were jogging. my daughter yelled at them, they smiled and waived to her and she has never stopped talking about that to this day!. lol

If Jimmy puts together two scoring drives in the first half, Shanny will pull him before the 1st half ends.

I'd pull him after one scoring drive.

Agree, but I dont think he needs that much work. I think one good drive and a redzone TD would be good enough for me. But yeah, its tradition that the starters play most on the 3rd game to get in synch for the regular season, so I get that. But knowing a bit how the WCO works, it's not going to really get in synch until about 3 games out (which is about the time we lost Jimmy last year) so why bother, specially with all the injuries we've had so far in preseason, and all the hard decisions to make on the twos and threes.

Well, we can always wrap him up in bubble wrap and save him for the Super Bowl. After all, who needs work?

BTW, he got hurt in week 3 of last season, not during preseason.
I may be in the minority here but I'm ok with Jimmy G struggling in the 1st game back since the injury.

Keeps him from getting complacent and makes him work harder to prove himself.

Yep age five is about the time they get it!! that is when you teach them, you have one favorite team in the niners and then you hate everyone else
