I would guess when Jimmy first started, the playbook was simple for him and the OL so it looked like the pass protection improved.
When we opened the playbook up last season he was sacked 13 times in 3 games. Thirteen!
By comparison in his first 5 starts, he had 8, which isn't great either.

I think he's just rusty. The NFL speed is so fast that one tenth of a second slower is a big deal for a QB throwing through small windows to his reciever. He just needs to get back to being faster in his reads. I've also watched those 6 plays again, and it seemed Jimmy was throwing it just a tad late. (In addition everybody's comment about the pass rush heat and OLine play).

It's gonna happen a lot this year so I'll try to nip it in the bud early:

Jimmy Garoppolo does not "step into his throw" because he's creates all the torque he needs by firing his front hip and rotating around his spine so the back leg doesn't "follow through" and it looks weird

At this point it would be a surprise if he makes it over Bourne and/or R. James.

Is he right in terms of QB throwing mechanics? How legit is this coach?

Media would love that, because then they can profit off of the "which Jimmy G will we get this season" paranoia.
