Nick Mullens and CJ both hold onto the ball for way too long at times, not saying the OL is perfect but sometimes s**tty QB play makes it look worse
This was similar to last year and the numbers never went down even when Jimmy was playing. There's no depreciable drop rate between any of the 49er QB when it comes to hits. Also, Mullens has a faster release than Jimmy at this point. The kid doesn't take sacks. QB hits are even when the ball is thrown successfully, on time and caught, there's still a free rusher that clobbers the QB after the pass is gone. I too thought this would be different between QBs, but it's not. The other possible factor is WR play. The issue again remains; regardless of who's starting at WR, our QBs are still getting clobbered regularly.
Mullens doesn't have a slow release but its for sure not quicker than Jimmy's. Also, the OL is better than in '17.
The OL allowed 116 qb hits in '17, better than this year and with lesser talent, probably had something to do with Jimmy under center.
