Agree..I just check out this thread every couple of days to smile at the paranoia. We will be fine, Jimmy is our guy. Going to be a great ride!

and when he ends up on another team and cj is our starter, you will still be setting thier with a glazed look saying we will be fine

Thats not the issue i could careless if York's pocket was reduced to lint, I just dont want us to be in a cap casualty scenario in a few years bcuz we have so much invested in our QB.

Yeah, over reacting - it'll get done, it's just going to go into July.

free agents will not be signing if this deal is not done by the time it starts. the longer it goes the messier it gets., it is fine. it gives more reps to cj, he was really the original chosen one you know
I want a franchise QB with lots of experience who is still young and willing to sign for the price of a below average player

I'm thinking this will be all sorted out by the draft. The Browns, Broncs, and Jets have 4 of the first 6 picks. The Fins are at 11,. Bills at 21 (and 22).

I don't see any of those drafting a QB and then AFTER that trying to sign a top FA (why would a FA want to sign there with his eventual replacement already there, anyway?). The market will deflate after the draft. Guys will want to sign before the draft, while they have leverage.

That would be insane to be the 3rd highest QB in the NFL after 7 games but like you noted, the market drives the price so it's very possible to end up in that range. The good news is it still won't put a dent in our $113M.

It's insane... but it's the market for QBs.

The question you have to ask yourself is "what would Jimmy Garoppolo get on the open market?". His agent probably feels pretty good, in this climate, about getting north of $26M/year.

This pretty much determines our negotiating leverage, which is good if we want to pay him market value and bad if we are trying to get him cheaper.
One thing the Redskins did do right after all the wrong they did with Cousins was sign Smith to an extension before the deal got done. In hindsight, maybe we could have done the same. But that was a different circumstance being in the middle of the season and without knowing how well Jimmy would perform.

The Redskins may or may not have overpaid. There was a rumor/leak out early yesterday that Denver was willing to give KC a 2nd and unload trouble-maker Aqib Talib to KC for Smith. Whether true or not, the deal Washington made was roughly the equivalent value.

It has also been widely reported that five other teams were interested in this "bum ass QB."

That is the difference. The league has three years to look at with Cousins. Garoppolo 7 games.
