i am more cautious about jimmys handlers than jimmy

Well he has the same agent as Brady, so that is a good thing.

Other than maybe sign the checks, Jed has nothing to do with Jimmy G or his potential contract. He probably has about as much to do with that negotiation as the night janitor.

People thinking that Jed is doing any negotiating or putting caps on contracts is laughable. Lynch would not have taken this job if Jed were going to stick his nose in football operations.

Jed along with Baalke royally f**ked up previous coaching hires. He admitted as much. He has the right people running the team now.

If it gets done early, great. If it takes time I am not going to stress. Baalke isn't running things anymore. Just in case you missed that.
I think it is fine to be concerned about the single most important issue of our football team and future without having to have some juvenile label with a sarcastic tone affixed to it. now maybe i am simple and stupid but i think free agents are looking at this thing very closely as they should.
Concern is one thing I guess, but a healthy concern is that the team and his agent take their time and do it right. I don't think there is any way in the world it doesn't happen, just more how does it work? If there were leaks from Jimmy G or Don Yee saying how unhappy he was with the process, or that he wants to go elsewhere, then there would be reasons for concern. Not before. But if you want to take it to extremes that's up to you. There have been exactly zero indications so far that there is trouble. Our GM has let it be known we want him, and that in itself is unusual in negotiations. This has absolutely none of the ear marks of the problems Washington got itself into. None. Zero. Zip. Nada.

Bringing up history with the old FO doesn't work for me either. Baalke isn't here, and until Lynch and Shanahan show that they are complete morons I am not inclined to believe they are. So far they have shown the opposite. All I have seen is first year of a rebuild, with them taking over late, having to pick up some bargain bin or worse players to just field a team at the beginning of the year, and making moves all year long to try to get better. They traded for JG, refused the ignorant cries of fans to start him the same day in a lost season. When he did finally play it was a big boost to a young rebuilding team.

If you have any info that shows they don't want him, won't pay him, or he doesn't want to be here I would like to see it. Because there have been no indications of any of that.

Let's make sure we don't confuse Jed with his dad - who was notoriously cheap with contracts, but even then it was only during a few years. John York was the guy who shelled out a contract of 8 years, 80 mil to Nate Clements over 10 years ago which was the biggest contract ever given to a defensive player in history, up to that point. During our championship run of 3 years we were up against the cap nearly every year - so it wasn't a lack of funding, we spent nearly every dime that we could and outspent 90% of the teams in the league.

The problem over the past few years hasn't been a reluctance to extend our quality players, it's been a lack of quality players to extend. Jed wasn't drafting, his inept GM/HC hires were, but that's a different fault than not getting contracts done and paid for.

R-E-L-A-X, CC, it's ok, bud. Jimmy will get signed, he'll be with us for a long time.

Despite what some seem to think, none of Jeds screw ups were about money.
If 9ers willing to pay 30 yrs old garcon 5/47.5, Jimmy will get paid . we just hope he and his agent will work out a reasonable deal to help us save some cap to acquire quality player in other positions.

if all parties are in love with each other like we are being told. it should be an easy thing to do

when it comes to jimmy, i am very anxious. if you got something good, that just means others want it and jimmy knows it. do not let that pretty boy image fool you

I will not rest easy until we get the stitched jerseys into the team store after the signing

This.

Drives me nuts sometimes. Jed has screwed up enough that we don't need to add to it by making stuff up. He screwed up Harbaugh and he screwed up harbaughs replacements by keeping Baalke.

He made the right decision and nuked the whole thing even though it cost him a fortune (paying 3 HCs all at the same time).

We'll see how it turns out but IMO there is no reason to think he'll screw up any potential Jimmy Garoppolo deal. For one thing, he stands to make a TON of money if Jimmy works out. When they are good, the Niners RULE the Bay Area. They'll be printing for more money than he'll cost to sign.

They don't need to save money...in fact they should front load the hell out of the deal.

They could give him 60 mil in one year and still have more cap space remaining than most of the NFL.

Could not agree more with the bolded.

People keep saying this but I don't understand the logic behind it at all. The only people still here from the dysfunctions are Jed and Paraag... Lynch, Shanahan and Peters are going to have way more of a say in negotiations than those two.

...and as shocking as some might find it Paraag is seen in league circles VERY differently than 49er fans see him.
Front loaded, incentive stacked, 5 years, 145 mil. Done, no go sign Talib, and Bell.

Don't really want Talib or Bell.

Talibs best days behind him and he's a nutcase.

I like Bell but not sure if he's the one cut and he's gone type back you want in the Shanahan system, he's a RB and they have short shelf lives, and he'd be really expensive. I'd rather draft a few young guys and save the money for other positions.
