Poll: Like or Dislike Players Protesting During the National Anthem?

Your arguments are all falling on deaf ears. The anti-kneeling crowd will crawl away until they stumble upon some new meme that justifies their ignorant point of view... then the cycle will repeat.

Ok so as you guys may or may not know, I am from England and as such I only have an opinion from the outside looking in.

Full disclaimer: I am going to tread very lightly here because I don't want to offend anybody especially in such a delicate manner.

First of all, the Nike advert is very good. As a father of a 7 year old girl I love the fact that there is an advert with a strong, powerful message. I try to encourage my daughter and let her know she can achieve anything and so it's reassuring that such a positive message is out in the world.

In terms of the protest. Your country is so much more patriotic than mine its unreal. But, it to me has nothing to do with the military. When there are African American Citizens being arrested, shot, persecuted and the rest then a high profile athlete (of any colour or creed) stands on a weekly basis and hears "in the land of the free" and believes that all the citizens in that country aren't really 'free' Then they can either just stand and ignore it, or take a knee in a peaceful protest that is designed to raise awareness.

Racial prejudice needs to be highlighted so that the rest of the world can see the vile, disgusting bigots for what they truly are. A despicable bunch of simpletons.

I want my daughter to grow up in a peaceful and loving world. I know I am a bit of a hippy but I believe that everybody is born equal and I think taking a knee for the anthem in front of millions of people is raising awareness of a clear underlying issue is the correct and peaceful way to raise awareness.

LOL!!!! Sorry, not to make fun of you, but racial prejudice and disparity was a known issue long before Kap's bullsh-t protest. I can always tell the people who are young and out of touch with reality because they think Kap was the first person to ever bring awareness. Actually, there were many issues that brought awareness of racial issues, including Rodney King, Emmit Till, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Trayvon Martin, etc. People old enough have seen these civil rights icons and how they've shaped the world.

The reality is that nobody cares that these players are protesting. It's the way they are protesting that is pissing people off and offending them, causing the players message to be buried by "patriotism". You don't have to like it, but that is the reality. This protest has been useless, has not caused any type of change, and considering the message has been lost, you'd think the players would find a better way to protest to get people to listen. Even Nate Boyer doesn't like the way Kap is protesting. He's like me and every other normal thinking person: Kap has the right to protest, even if he's being a disrespectful prick. That's what makes America great.

My advice, worry about whats going on in your country. The UK is becoming a laughing stock by some of us here in the US due to some of the ridiculous laws that they are passing that are actually taking away people's rights. You really don't have a 1st amendment there. Maybe you should worry about that before worrying about a protest by misguided NFL players.

Right, ok. Not really sure where to start with this.

First off, I never said there were white supremacists on every corner of the USA, nor would I classify anybody with a different point of view as racist or prejudice (not that you said I did I just wanted to make that clear)

Also, I did say that Kaep brought awareness to the issue, but at no point did I say that he was the first. And I commend all that came before him. But despite all of the previous protesters and everybody that you mentioned and everybody before....this is still an issue. The answer no matter how much people might want it to be is not to just throw your hands up and say 'oh well, nevermind'

As for being young? Awww aren't you sweet. I'm 33, truthfully I'm not sure if that makes me young or not, I certainly don't feel it most if the time.

I must confess that I don't know who those guys are in the picture, that's on me. I will look them up. And I'm not naive enough to think that racial prejudice or prejudice of any kind will be eradicated. We live in a society of greed. While there are oil fields and money (And religion) there will be illegal wars being fought and scapegoats being made and frankly our respective countries are responsible for most of them.

I do worry about my country mate, I hate the Tories (they are the equivalent of that perma-tanned t**t in the white house) and they will ruin us. There are better ways to protest for the NFL players or to raise awareness to anything. Doing anything other than standing during the National Anthem is disrespectful, do you ever see any Olympians do anything other than standing if they win gold and the USA anthem is being played at the podium. It's because they are representing their country and it's a privilege to represent and play/participate in a sport, the NFL players should feel the same way every time they suit up and play a game in front of an audience who paid to see them play.

If they want to protest or raise awareness to anything significant, simple, go start a charity or foundation and even better with their own money!

This all started by someone who sat on the bench because he got benched and replaced for playing sub par and he had nothing better to do but to make up an excuse to get attention, pretty stupid, and the fact he is still milking it right now is ridiculous.
