Not sure Nicks value is as high as some think but we can't trade him. The value of backups are going up. Trading him away is a dangerous game. All that money spent and the entire year is being depended upon one player not getting hurt.

You're right. Though I think we could get a 3rd for him this offseason. But that shouldn't be enough to part from a QB who has proven capable to win games. That's especially true since Garoppolo still needs to prove he can do it for 16 games AND he's in the team's walk year on his contract.
Just doesn't make sense to trade him for a mid-rounder. The likelihood that he will start games in 2019 is very high.

I think for a second or even a high third you have to atleast consider it. That's incredible value for an UDFA.
Originally posted by LasVegasWally:amazing so many want to get rid of nick. if jimmy gets hurt and yes. you have to say that with his history.. not to mention do we even know he will be 100 per cent or ready to come to training camp? do you people really want to give the keys to cj? again. keep cj around in pre season, let him take the hits. and then when teams are looking for a qb trade cj for a 6th. in the meantime. if lynch gets a few extra picks find a qb late on day three or sign some undrafted guy.

Truth!
Good call - "The value of backups are going up."

Absolutely!

I think if he continued to improve, at the end of 2019, he will get a more deserving backup QB contract from Lynch. He shouldn't be on a UDFA contract as a 2nd back up QB.
Is there a way to keep the contract structure but give him a pay raise
ward seems to be more versatile than nick

i hate that fact that we may have to cut ties with ward in order to afford to keep the kidward seems to be more versatile than nick

Ward's versatility is finding different ways to get injured
