2024 and I'm expecting a decent one because he should be one of the bigger names on the market. Looks like NT will be one of our draft picks. Maiocco seems to think Kinlaw can replace Jones. Will be interesting with his height. He was a solid run defender, so we'll see. If Kinlaw works out replacing Jones, he will have gifted the team 3 times.

It'll depend on if we sign any outside FAs, or how many we lose vs gain, so say DJ gets $10M a yr, that'll end up as a 5th rd pick, but say we sign Stephon Gilmore, that ends up canceling out the potential comp pick for DJ. And the comp picks will be for the 2023 draft.

When I look at our UFAs that will count as Comp FAs, this is who I see getting more than the minimum or could.

RB Mostert
RT Compton
DE Key
DE Willis
NT Jones
CB Verrett
CB K'Waun
SS Tartt

Note that Laken won't count, as his deal voided, contracts that have voided or had the option declined don't count as a CFA(Comp FA).

Our other CFAs, but they likely don't get more than the minimum.

RB Cannon
WR Sherfield
WR Sanu
WR James
WR Benjamin
TE Dwelley
C Brendel
DT Hurst
LB Harris
CB Norman
CB Johnson
FS Wilson
We have or will have to much invested in the DL already. Unfornuately this is a cap casualty. Good player.
I want him back, offer him 3 mill a year and see if he takes it.

I want to think that the Niners could easily find another NT in the draft to replace DJ Jones. But this good?
He´s really one of the most valuable players on the Defense for years now.
It´ s really a difficult situation.

$3M a yr would be a slap in the face, after he played on a 1yr $3.5M deal, he's gonna get between $8M and $10M a yr. I also want him back, but we'll see.

Yeah, that sounds for more realistic!

I think we lose both DJ and Laken, so I'd love to see them add James Daniels or Alex Cappa, move Banks to LG, then add a CB, Gilmore, Ward, Wallace, someone like that, I prefer the younger guys, 5yr deals, get them locked up long term, Gilmore would be a 3yr deal.
Some team is going to pay DJJ like a 3-down IDL and rightfully so. He is a 3-down player but never got the money down opportunities here with guys like Defo and AA as well as Kinlaw, who is inferior to DJJ and only got the snaps because he was the 14th overall pick.

DJJ's durability is the only thing that gives me pause with him and makes me him GL with another team. I'd have no issues giving him the bag if he was always on the field, but he seems to get knicked up every single game. Although to his credit, he almost always comes back into the game.

Only my favorite rushes from the last few years. Get that bag, DJ.

I think 8 is fine. Maybe a little less with a bigger bonus and 4 year deal. Why cant that work.
Somehow i get the feeling that we are going to be faced with $8mil for DJ or $8mil for Laken. With Nicky B and Deebo coming up, can we somehow afford both DJ AND Laken? I guess it is conceivable, but ultimately, if it breaks this way, Either OR, which would you choose and why? We aren't going to get either for $5mil and it seems $8 apiece would be our luck.

If so who would YOU take? DJ is the better player when you value how much each guy is worth on O or D.. Basically i believe DJ is the far better player, but Laken is the slot we need more. Sophie's choice. A 3rd alternative would be we get neither but i would really protest that result. That is one we cannot do.

For my money, i would do everything possible to keep both, but if pushed and we could just sign one at $8 mil, i would go with what we needed most…LG. FA could be a big determiner of what we do…as well as just how good Banks, Moore , McG and McK are. KS/JL know this and we don't. If 2 or 3 of those guys are now ready to start, then we keep DJ and let Laken go at $8mil. We cannot Lose both however. Replacing both would just be too hard.

If that $8 mil turned out to be $10…then…i dunno.

Yes we can afford both on long term deals, plus Deebo, Bosa, and Aiyuk, but it would likely mean we won't sign a big name, which I'm fine with, if they add a CB, like Levi Wallace for $6M-$8M a yr that'd be great. If we lose both, I hope they bring in James Daniels or Alex Cappa, move Banks to LG, and then add a CB, maybe Gilmore, Ward, or Wallace, we'll see, a week away from legal tampering period apparently, as NFL Network will be going FA frenzy at 1PM EST next Sunday.
It looks like the D-Line that has been built may be broken up. Keeping DJ Jones is a must, we can't hope that Kinlaw is injury free.

Yeah, I mean, it'll suck to lose DJ, but I have faith in Kinlaw, and Kocurek to get whoever is here to play at the highest level, just hoping DJ is back, I'm beginning to think Laken is gone if it's true that there will be a bidding war, no way we can win that, if he gets $14M+ a yr, no way, max I'd go is $10M a yr, same with DJ, but that's me.
