QB CJ Beathard - signs with Jacksonville

So your criteria for judging Beathard's play is whether or not he can hit a bunch of long balls during the game? Seems to me that the better criteria would be whether or not he can execute the offense consistently. Deep balls can be fun but I'd rather see long drives that chew up the clock and keep our defense off the field. A couple more of those and they probably win the Chargers game

He threw for 298 yards, 2 TDs, 2 questionable INTs, 19 yards rushing. But the best stat is only 1 sack behind a swiss cheese OL.

CJ made the OL look better than it was.

He also throws passes with some zip.

His passes were inconsistent last year.. and still so far this year.

I'm hoping that has to do with technique...and he'll sort it out.

Beathard last week, I think someone posted a stat, had less time to throw per pass attempt than any quarterback in the league has had so far this year. I want to believe that wasn't true but hard to ignore the numbers. I feel like maybe the perception that he holds it too long is overblown due to fans not realizing our line hasn't been pass blocking very well since Jimmy can escape rushes a lot of times with his quickness or fast release. With both tackles hurt last game and him still doing what he did, I was impressed.

Thanks for the correction, couldn't quite remember on that. But yeah, 25th still isn't good. But I thought he did a nice job. I get that it was only one game, but the Chargers aren't a bottom feeder defense.

I think the majority of JG's sacks this year come from him holding the ball too long. Especially in the red zone. So frustrating to be in the red zone and watch him eat a sack for a huge loss over and over again.

As for CJ, it was a heck of a game. He looked much better than last year, and I do think it was the best QB performance we've had thus far this year.

On a couple of them, I agree. But there have been some where we've been in a spread and JG just doesn't pull the trigger. Having smaller receivers definitely doesn't help.

I was impressed by CJ's decisiveness in the RZ though.

The question is, what game were YOU watching? I saw a far more decisive CJ than at anytime previously. He was getting rid of the ball a lot faster than in the past. Still made some questionable decisions but played more than well enough for this to have been a win.
