In what world? Apparently not the one you've been living in lately. Who had the most defensive snaps last game? Buckner, with 40. Guess who had 39.
I think you're missing the grand point here. It doesn't matter what you label Buckner or Thomas inside. 1T or 3T. It doesn't matter as it's dictated by how the OL plays you. You can be at 3T and get doubled. At that point, you're playing the role of a 1T and the 1T is free 1on1, like a 3T. And likewise. We just saw that.
Buckner and Thomas had 15 snaps together and did we lose anything in the run game? Quite the opposite. Per Oscar, Buckner's grade was exactly the same at 1T and Thomas had his best grade.
Why would this be a surprising outcome to you?
Why would you have concerns going more with this lineup going forward (base, snickel, nickel)? Serious question...
Hey listen, you're preaching to the choir if it means getting Mitchell off the field.
If Buck can maintain his effectiveness inside at 1T and we can split snaps at 3T between Day and Solomon we could have an effective front 4. I like how AA has played at 5T this year.
Still need 2 edge rushers though and that's scary considering how much draft capital we have tied up in the front 4.
