In what world? Apparently not the one you've been living in lately. Who had the most defensive snaps last game? Buckner, with 40. Guess who had 39.

I think you're missing the grand point here. It doesn't matter what you label Buckner or Thomas inside. 1T or 3T. It doesn't matter as it's dictated by how the OL plays you. You can be at 3T and get doubled. At that point, you're playing the role of a 1T and the 1T is free 1on1, like a 3T. And likewise. We just saw that.

Buckner and Thomas had 15 snaps together and did we lose anything in the run game? Quite the opposite. Per Oscar, Buckner's grade was exactly the same at 1T and Thomas had his best grade.

Why would this be a surprising outcome to you?

Why would you have concerns going more with this lineup going forward (base, snickel, nickel)? Serious question...

Hey listen, you're preaching to the choir if it means getting Mitchell off the field.

If Buck can maintain his effectiveness inside at 1T and we can split snaps at 3T between Day and Solomon we could have an effective front 4. I like how AA has played at 5T this year.

Still need 2 edge rushers though and that's scary considering how much draft capital we have tied up in the front 4.

Buckner can play 1 on occasion he did it his rookie year 30% of the time. The plan should have always been to move Buckner and Thomas around at 1, 3, big end. Just neither at leo.

Without the ends though I can why they played Solly outside. That gif of Marsh getting rag dolled.

100% agree!

Haha. True. But if Saleh just wants another BE to play at LEO, he's got Blair and Taylor to couple with AA at BE on base.

Hell, those two might actually provide a better edge rush anyhow.
This is the Season after his sister committed suicide imma give the kid a break, i also cant help but notice he isn't the only young player on D that regressed just saying
Where did Solly go in the 4th quarter? They were using him in the middle, running stunts and having a ton of success.

Then I look for Solly in the fourth, and I see Arik Armstead is inside for the majority of the nickel snaps....
Disappointment. And he was gonna be the 2nd overall

I thought I saw him inside to start that last drive and they were having success rushing Rosen...then he was gone and they drove down the field.

Not sure why we just don't leave him inside and let him grow. So frustrating.

Seriously... It's pretty baffling... WTF were they thinking?!

Saleh seems to only play packages per drives. First it's Thomas inside. Then Mitchell. Then AA. Then Day.

He's the Greg Roman of defense. He can't see the game...only his script.
Been saying Thomas isn't the problem. I really want to see what another DC can do before he gets the bust label. If a defensive player had actually developed under Saleh, then I'd be on the throw Thomas away bandwagon, but Saleh hasn't earned that kind of slack.

At this point it's important to try to different combos to see what works for next year and what we gotta do. I also think it's improtant to not get too carried away with Sollys play inside. I thought it was ok, but not some world beater or how a number 3 pick should play. Step in the right direction though.

As Aaron Donald showed us, an elite big man defender can play anywhere on the d line . Put clowney or Watt or Donald or Myles anywhere and they'll do work. It's alarming that solly didn't do anything at all in 6 games on the edge even if it's not his natural position.

I agree. The consistency worries me a bit more than the position. (He is better suited inside, but should have the tools to move around.)
As the #3 pick, I expected him to use his burst + handwork to cause trouble wherever he lined up. Occasionally, he kind of flashes that on the edge. Though, most times, he just looks confused and sluggish. Maybe part of that is the position or scheme. But, I think he needs the MOAR VIOLENCE mindset on every snap.

Marshon Lattimore is such a beast. One of the best man coverage corners in the league.

It just sucks seeing him make plays when we have recievers running wide open down the field consistently and Solomon is doing nothing no matter if he is inside or outside.

What a disappointment.

No defensive players have developed because we have no-one to develop.

Our D literally has ZERO playmakers and the two guys who flash (Foster and Tartt) cannot stay healthy.
