It depends on the severity of the sprain. I'm guessing 3-5 weeks.

Report is it's a low grade sprain. My guess is we'll keep him out through the bye and he may be back then against Seattle or next week vs Chicago.

Sounds about right.

May as well put him on IR, why risk him at this point?

We are so far behind, we are talking about a 6-7 year rebuild at this point. This is rock bottom!

I'd seriously consider sitting all the starting 6 players that got hurt on I.R. Even Brown.

Might as well go full tank.

Lol
Good low grade sprain....we gotta play the rookies not put them on IR. These guys need snaps to grow.

One of the reasons I was disappointed with Harbaugh was his maintaining a power OL. When you use power it's only as good as the individual against the opponent. But it made some sense because they didn't have to tally revamp the OL for the new regime...and Roman/Harbaugh had some interesting tweaks on the power element.

When Kelly came in they tried to revamp the OL away from sheer power. With Shanahan's system you can scheme the OL to outmaneuver the defense with more mobile linemen. So this year may see a shift away from guys like Garnett and toward quicker, more agile guys. Fortunately, those guys tend not to be super expensive or difficult to find. Of course, that assumes he will be using a scheme similar to his dad's. This is the first time he's been a HC so who knows?

Arguably the biggest reason we were so dominant with Harbaugh aside from our defense was our bruising offensive line. Teams knew we were going to run and they couldn't stop us. It must have been demoralizing as a defense knowing what was coming and not being able to stop it

Would ya look at that common sense

It's only common sense if someone agrees with your opinions. Right?

Until we met playoff teams who could hold up against our vaunted OL. And that wonderful line couldn't pass block to save their lives. That's why it made sense to go with Kaepernick, who could use his running ability to neutralize the defensive aggression...once again, until the playoffs.

It's a double edged sword....snaps are needed to grow but are bad snaps going to set them back?

This is true but it's hard to think, hey, 8 more weeks of snaps to grow and develop, when you're really thinking, God I hope they just get through these 8 games without serious injuries.

This year is the year to grow and experiment...you can do these things when you're in tank mode. Hopefully we actually have something to play for, though more realistically it wont' be until 2019(sad to think about but probably true)

...esp. for the QB. I don't want to turn BeatHard into Gabbert.

Harbaugh knew how to unite a locker room and get them to work towards a single goal...the whole "who's got it better than us?" was genius, even united the fan base.

Indeed...but eventually when you don't have the players to dominate you have to out think opponents and the rah rah pump your chest hype wears thin.

I agree but to assume he couldn't do it is erroneous...the guy took what was an avg NFL team before he got there and led them to 3 strait NFC championship games...if his GM wasn't such a knucklehead wasting draft picks and refusing to use F/A he probably could have kept it going if the Owner wasn't such an ass.
