Robbie has cleanly missed only two kicks all year, that's counting the 57 yard doink off the Tampa crossbar. Three if you really want to count the slipped plant foot at Washington. Every other kick has either been blocked, badly snapped, or badly handled.
I'd be pissed at him if it was something mechanical with him where he is just missing the mark personally, but it's not. That is truth. I can't just sit idly by and let fans ignorantly bash the crap out of him just because they're reeling from an emotional loss and need someone to blame.
I know a lot about kicking a football. I was a starting kicker in school. I don't say that to pat myself on the back, but I say that only to harp on the point that I absolutely know what good and bad kicking at an individual level looks like. Robbie is not a bad kicker all of a sudden from what I've seen in all his tape this year.
The people spewing hate right now and purely running on emotion and I'm sure most will continue to say they don't care why the misses are happening and they only care about the stat line, which is just willful ignorance. Calm down, look at the big picture and review what happened and you'll see that so far at least, Robbie is nowhere near deserving the hate he's getting right now.

He's 61% and trash this year. That's the bottom line.

Multiple sources are confirming it was tipped. Blame the blocking not the kicker.

Seems like with all the issues, most should be falling at Hightower's footsteps because right now, the PK game is becoming the Dante Pettis of ST...can't be trusted and counted on.

I dunno. I know the rookie missed a big kick, but I kinda trust him more right now. His kicks just look better and Gould has yet to hit a tough FG all season. He's still good for gimmes but if its further than 40 yards yards he's not dependable. So we gotta go for.4th and 1 when we should be kicking. Gotta figure this out.

Man I hope your confidence in him is right but he just doesn't look like his old self to me.
Maybe he pushed to get back for this game like Staley did a couple of weeks ago.
He's been super clutch in the past so I'm really hoping he get fully healthy and can be counted on down the stretch run cause I have a feeling we are going to be needing him to make one or two for us to keep home field advantage throughout

When we were trash we still had good special teams. Now that were good we dont have good special teams... 2 losses both due to missed field goals. Whether its blocking or kicking they let us down

McLaughlin was an easy cut for the Chargers seeing as he missed several kicks for them in his short stint there. Then misses a potential game winner with us on a horrific kick where he not only poorly placed his plant foot, but also kicked the dirt in front of the football causing him to knuckle the ball ridiculously wide left. Fans are greatly overrating him.
Kid has potential, but you don't want to bank on any kind of consistency from an UDFA rookie who has cleanly missed (no blocks, tips, weather impact, etc) kicks in over half of his games this season.

No denying that. It's been anything but special all season and we haven't even needed them much.

Yeah, we can't trust him over Gould.
