I think so, I think Malcolm Smith is a SOLID football player and he obviously knows this system inside-out but he is a band-aid, stop gap player IMO. He's keeping the seat warm for someone else. If Roquan Smith is available at 9 or 10 and I think he likely will be, it will be very hard to pass on him with the potential of having another Willis-Bowman type duo with Smith & Foster...

Where does the Niners linebackers rank?
in the bottom ten of the nfl. our secondary is in the bottom ten and so is our o line in my opinion

agree, especially if we can get a extra pick or two if we trade our pick. which is still hope the team can do. its a qb friendly draft so maybe we can make a deal with one of those needy teams. who are no longer us

For all I know you could be blind. That's why I was asking for real data.

Why did we release Bowman... it doesn't make since. Bowman got better as the season went on as a Raider bc he mentally was getting there. Now Smith is here but at the same token the Niners are treating him like an IR Bowman... Bowman still wouldve been a Improvement to the Defence. This guy better play like the next Bill Romanowski

Bowman and Smith play different positions.
They want Foster at MIKE for some reason. I'd prefer him at WILL with Bowman at MIKE but that isn't what's happening.
Smith played his best ball in SEA as a 4-3 WILL. He played out-of-position for the raiders. I think he'll be solid at WILL again next season.

Smith actually played a lot of SAM for the Seahawks. Reason being is because they frequently ran "over" fronts instead of under which made the SAM often times interchangeable with the WILL. So I could see Smith doing the same for instances where we do that over front at times.

I love Bowman but he had become a liability. Couldn't change direction or cover well anymore. He turned into Derek Smith. Pains me to say it but it's true. It's no shock that the defense improved after he was released. Foster is light years better than Bowman right now. Coyle may be too...
