It sure would be nice if that guy could execute too but for whatever reason, the dude just seems frozen in time...some kind of psychological block.

How Walsh did it with Steve DeBerg until you know who was ready. Not saying CJB is you know who, but the coaching approach was sound.

He's canon fodder, but I think Kyle thought Hoyer could repeat the remedially palpable success he showed in Chicago before injury. Again, this guy was replaced by Mark Sanchez in Chicago, that's how good the air Hoyer show is.

Next time the 49ers give him a ride along interview in a truck, I hope they drop him off in the woods afterwards.

lol I don't think Kyle or John thought or even the thought crossed their mind that Hoyer could repeat what he flashed at Chicago.

They brought him in because he's familiar with the system, he would be able to pick it up faster than drafting a QB or another FA QB and having it put all on them.
We're in full rebuild mode. You bring in players who know and understand the system. Ones who can pick it up fast and help the rest.
Hoyer has been tossed around like a rag doll throughout his career and he's the perfect candidate to throw back there behind a s**t O-line and Weather the storm.

Yes he is beyond bantha fodder. Lmao he can't get any worse than what he has done. I believe he will make steps of improvement. But seriously no one should be having high expectations with him at QB.
Focus on the rest of the team then get your QB.
Lol they have a plan. I think it's written on the wall. Just no need to come out and spill the beans. We don't need to know wtf they have up ther sleeves. It's either a big FA QB or draft pick next year where we get our QB.

False. Alex Smith is balling it up in KC. He was only garbage here because we went through 6 offenses in 6 seasons.

Can someone explain the loss of downs intentional grounding call flag that took 15 minutes for the refs to throw?

I rewatched and he was 5 yards outside the tackle even though he was in between the hash marks.

I didn't understand it at the time. The ball reached the LoS and he was outside the tackle box (I thought), so I do not understand what basis justifies IG. The rules are pretty clear about what is and is not IG. Perhaps they felt he was inside the tackle box?

Yeah, I always thought it had nothing to do with the hash marks but where the T is. As long as you're outside the T, you're free to throw it away anywhere...in the field or up in the stands.

I think the D can get to Seattle Elite by year 2 or 3.

Agree

maybe sooner.

Remember - Foster didn't play and if he was a spy on Wilson, IMO, we'd have won.

Looks like he's inside the tackle box. I think it's because he sailed the pass so high that it was not considered catchable.

Yeah, hash marks don't matter. As long as the QB is outside where the T lined up, it can't be IG (assuming ball makes it to the LoS).

But, it was in Seattle. Surprised Hoyer wasn't ejected

Edit - Based on thl's pictures, he is inside the box and didn't throw it near a receiver...so yeah, IG

Good call!!!
Let's go back for a moment and ask what Hoyer's purpose here was? It was to teach the other 10 guys how to run ZBS and to help get our potential FR QB ready to do so. Well, we dont know if we have a potential FR QB, but we do have CJ. He needs time to pick up the NFL...fastness, strength, quickness, and yes, ZBS. That was his job. Teach the ZBS to the rest of the O. But did kyle expect him to play like this or like he looked the one game in PS where he looked jsut fine. First outing was terrible.

Here's the rub. If he continues to play as the first two games, then we got an O that's going backward, not forward. And that defeats a team if it is constantly going backwards. I subscribe to hoyer playing Qb until CJ is ready. Is he? Probably not. So let hoyer take the hits, sacks , until the OL gets the ZBS down. We don't want CJ getting beaten up while trying to learn ZBS. But that has to be titrated wtih our QB playing well enough to not discourage the team. And frankly i am surprised at Hoyer to date, but will say fusco and beadles were bad karma to put in front of hoyer. Kilgore too. So maybe our OL gets a whole lot better wthi Laken (already an improvement) adn Magnus when he starts. Changing out devey and Martin for beadles adn fusco was not so hot an idea. So give Hoyer another couple games, when Magnus starts ...or. Josh. GEt him a good OL in front...maybe he does better. But the longer he keeps CJ off the field the longer he has to learn ZBS. That is a winner for us. But hoyer playing like gack...or dreck...that doesn't help the team move forward.

So once Magnus starts, then see how Hoyer plays. IF he playe way better, then fine, keep him there. But if he stays static, then time to move on. Much as i wold like to give CJ more time to learn ZBS.
