Yeah I didn't like that one. Could have easily just fallen on the sword and said buck stops with me I'm the HC and I need to make sure we are on the same page. I don't think he intended to throw anyone under the bus I think he intended to be honest that the play was supposed to go to Berrios and when reporters starting digging about what went wrong he revealed too much publicly and it came off as throwing OC under the bus.

I think he is honest with his post game which once again proves the wisdom of Belichick. Belichick has mastered the art of saying nothing that could be deemed revealing of strategy or controversial. One strategy is don't answer the question you are asked, answer the question you wish you were asked.

Sort of like Dan Quinn throwing Kyle under the boss for the Super Bowl loss.

I personally dont see anything wrong. There isnt such thing of throwing someone under the bus when your speaking facts. Throwing under the bus applies when your putting blame on someone else rather than take accountability. In this case, He is the HC but he hired an OC for a reason. If the OCs job is to communicate with the QB then the HC cant be all in everyones ear when you only have 25 seconds to get a message across. If the OC doesnt know what needs to be said to a Rookie QB who is probably nervous af, then he needs to get the f**k out. . . and come back to SF

Again tho if the OC effed up big who oversees the OC? Who installed the OC? Who does the OC report to? It reflects poorly on Saleh either way. Better to reflect poorly on Saleh with him owning the blame instead of pointing the finger.

That KS stuff after the ATL super bowl always rubbed me wrong. The guy who effed that one up is Devonta Freeman.
Should've stayed in SF for another year, but at least he got his money

True. Denver, Chicago, Minnesota, even Jacksonville (minus Baalke) might be better situations than the Jets.

I think Jacksonville are historically bad as a situation right now.

They have more good young talent than say Houston for sure.

I remember at the time thinking Wilson over Fields was a crackerjack move. Fields as a prep was a 5 star best the nation recruit. And then balled out of his mind in college including in the CFP. To have all that surpassed cuz of a pro day that's like Kyle Boller look I can throw from my knees 50 yards through the uprights stuff.

Yeah

I'm not going to say Fields didn't/doesn't have his issues. Every player does. But body of work and overall talent and level of competition, Fields was always the better pick. Coming in to the draft anyway.

But there was this concerted effort like in the media or in some circles to tank the stock of Fields to a degree. From the "he's not a leader, he's not smart, he's lazy" to the report of the seizures which were under control they did a number on him. Still a first round pick, still starting in the NFL right now. But he was the second best QB prospect in the draft and not that far away from Lawrence as the best.

Again, that's coming in. Who knows ultimately what their careers will be.

In no way should Wilson have gone before Fields and I think there was a concerted effort to lower his stock. It worked out very well for the Bears, but in defense of Wilson, he went to a far worse team.

He needs to show something next year and it will be very interesting to see the leaps all of the 2021 rookie QBs take in 2022.

Jacksonville actually has some talent. Not a lot, but it isn't Houston as you said or the 2004/2016 49ers. If Baalke were removed, Jacksonville would be more attractive than your usual losing team with a HC vacancy.

Looks like their LT is following the Trent Brown career arc:

I'd do it. Seemingly good for both ends, but provided MM can recover. Just make it conditional. Not sure what a player like MM would go for, especially considering we got Trent for a 5th (2020) and a 3rd (2021). Then Trent Brown went for a 3rd in 2018. Does that mean MM is worth a single 4th or a 5th. Or maybe we send MM and a 7th for the Jets 4th or something like that. If it works out, they get a proven top tier run blocker that can play in their system and he did improve in pass protection in 2021 compared to 2020. He also won't face anywhere near the amount of top pass rushers he faced playing in the AFC East.
So how did Saleh do in his first year?

Looked pretty obvious that his offense sorely lacked Greg Knapp. Would have been super beneficial to have such and experienced coach helping Wilson along.

He needs to find someone to help fill that role me thinks.
