I'd actually like to see Mike in the front office as the "football guy" we have been asking for.Let Kyle coach the team and Mike help guide the front office

Mike Shanahan or Steve Young as the "football guy" sounds good to me!
To all the posters saying we're just "living in the past" and that this would never work: Try telling that to Denver five years ago when they hired John Elway as their GM...

That's the exact definition of Kyle Shanahan...
This. Kyle Shanahan will be a HC somewhere next year, not an OC for anybody. He'll try and pull his Dad along with him. He's an interesting thought, but so is David Shaw.
Honestly, I think it's very unlikely Chip Kelly is gone after this year. Unless he leaves on his own for college. Which would make us look very, very bad.
Unless Shanahan stays in Atlanta for a third year, I don't think him coming here is likely. I like the idea, though.
Totally agree. I was just commenting on people saying Mike Shanahan would bring Kyle here to be OC. Kyle is way above Dad in the HC pecking order. I'm not sure how accurate the perceptions of Kelly are. Perceptions like, no good DC will work for him, his scheme is good for college only, NFL defensive coordinators have figured him out. If those are true, I hope he moves on. But, on the other hand, he seems to scheme average WRs open and the offense seems to be better now than early on. Just want Baalke gone.

So if a new GM comes in and drafts Garrett, who's the obvious choice, and he turns out to be a stud, that means our GM was just lucky?
And Manning was incredible, especially in 2013, but when it came to last season, he could have been replaced with most playoff QB's and they'd still win the Super Bowl.

I could see Kaepernick's potential resurrection under Chip Kelly's system as a primary justification to keeping Kelly. That will probably be the main thing that gets brought up unless Kaep decides to opt out.
That and you don't want to be the Cleveland Browns and go through four coaches in four years, or pay three at one time.

Hmm. Only way Kyle is coming here is if his dad is indeed the GM which I don't think the Yorks will do. This is Tolkien-esque fantasy.

You beat me to it. Lucky draft picks? Smh. I could see some idiot GM passing on Miller because he was suing the NFL at the time.

Not happening, The offense is getting better week by week with a horrible core of WRs..players who drop passes, fumble and make bonehead plays..Chip will have another year with a top 5 pick a new DC with a healthy D and upgrades at positions needed bc of the 100$ million the niners have to spend..And Kap showing progress every week is another plus..this offseason is going to have some big Moves..there has to be..

Does anyone know how far off the niners are on spending the NFL minimum for next year? In other words, I'm going to wanna see if they spend more than they "have to" in free agency.

I didn't want to see Harbaugh go but he wouldn't let go of Roman and this read option junk. He was tough to deal with so he had to go. I didn't want Tomsula to be HC. It should have been Gase while keeping Fangio as DC. Kelly and his gimmick offense was a bad pick also.
They need to keep Jed out of the football decisions. He needs to bring in Mike Shanahan as that football guy to be team president. I don't know if I am sold on him as the GM. I'd like to see him bring in a young up and coming GM to work with that he feels can evaluate talent. He can then also pick an innovative young offensive coach. He happened to know one hot prospect in Kyle Shanahan.
Baalke and Parcell ball will be gone. Kelly is going to bail back to college where he belongs.
We need to establish an identity again and it should be a move back to the WCO.
Mike can even be an assistant QB coach to help a new QB learn the WCO just like he did for Young.
Kaep and his distractions will be gone in the offseason.

Are you referring to age?
You do know that most of the current top coaches in the league are the oldest right? Bill Belichick (64), Pete Carroll (65), Bruce Arians (64), etc, etc.
Bruce Arians? The Arizona coach? Who is right now 4-6-1 with the #20 scoring offense? FWIW most of the top coaches are in there 50s not 60s.
Don't be a hater, bro. Relax, he is just having a bad season that's all. Hey, don't forget he won the Coach Of The Year two years in a row alright! And sorry mate, the best coaches are in their 60s unless you want to discount Belichick and Carroll of course.

I'm talking about Juice or Electricity, the three coaches you mentioned still have it, Shanahan's on empty.
"Electricity"? Does Belichick look electric to you? The guy is expressionless.
Mike is a great coach and he did have juice when he was with the Skins until he got screwed by RG3. Without Mike and Kyle, RG3 would have been nowhere like he is now.

The offense has been improving week by week you say?! Is that why we have now lost 10 straight and broken the all-time franchise record of having the longest losing streak?

I don't think Elway got lucky, there are a few decent players he picked up through the draft and good FA moves to prop that team up. They are young enough now and decent with his cap management to be competitive for a few good years. Even if Paxton is a bust.
