For me, I'd rather see them address officiating in some way to be more consistent and drastically reduce the horrible calls/non-calls. Yes Seattle, I'm looking at you.

The officiating is bad but the constant commercial breaks and stops in play make it hard for me to sit through a four hour game with a 60 minute clock.

Well removing the commercial break after kick offs should be implemented right now.

They could have as many commercials as they wanted is they'd reverse the sissification of the game. We want the violence. Make every player sign a ufc type waiver and revert many of the safety rules. League fixed.

Yup. The passion for the game isn't about getting a ball across a goal line.

Its about all about stopping a team from getting the ball across a goal line.

They seemed to have added more commercials. In the past during a review they always showed the replays while the refs were making a decision, now they will go to commercial break sometimes not coming back till the referee is announcing the decision leaving us with no replay.

I absolutely HATE that.
It may be over-exposure??

It used to be Sunday games and MNF.

Now it's Sunday night game. Thursday Night Game, thanksgiving Game etc.

I really don't have an answer - just throwing this out there to feed the discussion.

Commercials are always a problem too.
In the lions Vikings game, Vikings score then commercials, Vikings kickoff then commercials, lions run 1 play the, quarter ends and commercials. Really NFL??

I'm gonna go ride my bike and burn off some calories before tonight instead of watching this s**t.

I would be curious how many more commercials are shown compared to just 10 years ago. I don't think they have added to the overall game time, it just seems almost every stoppage of play results in a commercial. Instead of replays, highlights from other games, flashbacks to the past etc,etc you get commercials. As far as the Vikings-Lions game the commercials to me are better than listening to Phil Simms blabber on about nothing, can't stand that guy.
And its the same five commercials over and over again.
I cant stand that Papa f+++ing John. Sh+t ingredients. Sh+t Pizza. Sh+t commercial.

Totally agree that the commercials and flags are a huge problem.

9ers suck, that's the problem.
IMO, the NFL needs to the do following:

Less commercial breaks. Not likely, but one can wish.

Make EVERY play reviewable and give coaches three challenges.

Bring back defense. Right now, defense is more of a formality than something that's actually part of the game.

Stop treating the players like robots. If guys want to celebrate and it doesn't pose a risk to their safety LET THEM. I remember looking forward to seeing what ridiculousness TO would pull after scoring a TD. Now, doing anything more than handing the ball to the ref is a flag.

Get off DirecTV's nuts and create a streaming only subscription package. Speaking to the numbers, younger people do not like having to stay glued to their couch to watch their favorite programs. Get with the times and make it easy for people to watch from whatever device they want, wherever they are.

Commentary: get some young blood in there to call the games. Don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of hearing stuffy, middle-aged men salivate over the same handful of players (looking at you, Tom Brady) ad nauseam.

the nfl is so slow that baseball has a faster game pace. Something needs to change.
