Sux to see him go. He's always been solid when healthy.

I guess he'll follow Saleh, but I'd be scared of that dogs**t turf in NY.
Or he could follow Buckner to the Colts.

I liked Blair. He carved out a nice career for an undrafted guy. Hopefully he can continue somewhere else and stay healthy. He was legit when healthy and it's too bad to see him go. Definitely a casualty of the reduced cap otherwise he would probably rehab and continue do be a solid depth piece for us. Hopefully we can draft an Edge early and continue to stock the d line with top end talent. Depth pieces like Blair will usually sort themselves out.

Baalke drafted Blair in the 5th. Now that Blair has a torn ACL on his resume Baalke may want him more than ever.

Arik Armstead and Jimmy Ward are the remaining Baalke draft picks.

I think they're releasing Blair because they want to re-sign one/both of Willis & Hyder. Willis didn't get a ton of PT, but I saw he's got the strength & quickness to be a good rotational PR. We saw what Hyder can do. There could be someone else in the picture, too...maybe someone like Carl Lawson. As the saying goes, you just can't have too many PR's. Blair played well when he wasn't hurt, but this is one of those tough choices GM's and HC's are dealing with all over the NFL.

BTW, Blair was one of just 5 remaining pre-Shanahan guys. Were down to just Ward, Tartt, Armstead, and Mostert.

Tough as hell, played way above his draft placement. Sucks his body isn't holding up. I'm sure Baalke will sign him this week.

Blair probably asked to be released so he can join Saleh and his Jets. Blair was always a favorite of coach Saleh.
