He was terrible with Calvin, gonna be absolutely horrendous without him

Golden Tate is having his best years
Has it been announced, or is he just contemplating?
Good luck if he is calling it a career. Would have loved to see him go to another team in his prime though

Lol, so youre gonna sit there and try to tell me that you honestly believe that Montana/Young, Walsh, and even having Taylor/Owens on the opposite end had no positive influence on his career?... cmon son.

ok if Walsh (the system) and/or QB(s) were the reason for Rice's success, what about Dwight Clark, John Taylor, JJ Stokes, Mike Wilson, Mike Shuman, Renaldo Nehemiah. Why aren't THEIR numbers through the roof? Jerry's success is a direct product of his commitment to being the best. Listen, Barry may have been on 'roids but, he STILL had to HIT the ball!
Wow. No way. I thought he had good football left if he wanted it to be.

Jerry was great, but he also had a lot of help

he did but he was still putting up big numbers at 40 with the Faiders. You have to be a supreme technician to be playing at NFL level and in a contact position at the age of 40.

All successful players have help from other players.

Rice did more at 40 than a bunch of our Nolan/Singletary era WRs did as 20 somethings.

Rice smothered AJ Jenkins too.

Damn.
I guess the 2014-2015' niners started this trend as the new thing to do.

Get picked high in the draft, get paid, retire early..

Go bankrupt in 5-10 years after , sue the NFL, become a successful newscaster/parody reporter

Get caught with crack cocaine.

Sometimes I wonder how many people around here were actually watching games back when he played. I hope everyone knows that from about '86 on, every team the Niners played game planned for him, put their best corner on him, doubled him, tried to punish him at the line, etc. etc. etc.

Yes, it's a team game and Jerry Rice had help - but the NFL also threw everything they had at him and still usually couldn't stop him.
