Agree, he's earned a spot on the 53 to open the season at least. He's been the top graded pass rusher of the pre-season per PFF. His production is against backups, but he's done exactly what you'd want him to do against that type of competition...dominate.
People keep citing his PFF grade but I can't find it. I subscribe, but it's honestly mostly for kicks. The grades are pretty crappy since it's not like they have any knowledge of assignments. I did find this from the Packers game, though:
Top defensive grades:
LB Shayne Skov, 84.5
ED Aaron Lynch, 81.7
ED Corey Lemonier, 79.9
LB Gerald Hodges, 79.5
LB Michael Wilhoite, 78.0
Linebackers, edge rushers perform well on defense
Although the defensive line got pushed around a bit in run defense, the 49ers' inside linebackers graded well in run defense. Shayne Skov had four run stops and Gerald Hodges added two. Edge rushers Aaron Lynch and
Corey Lemonier finished with the top two pass-rush grades in this game, with Lemonier generating three hurries on only seven rushes. That's a positive sign at a position of need for the Niners.
