No one thinks that, but their fans need to realize that he isn't signing a team friendly deal like most said he would....they will have to let good players go like every other team and have to focus on the draft where they haven't really crushed in the past couple years.

Meanwhile, they've given huge deals to several defensive players, sacrificing the depth that made them special 2-3 years ago, and they'll need to shell out for Wilson, Okung, Wagner, and Bennett (again) in the enar future.

Wilson will be a hawk no ifs ands or buts. As a Niners fan I just hope it costs them an arm and a leg. I hope Wilson gets the largest contract in NFL history.

And I hope it's guaranteed through 2025.
If I were Wilson I'd hold out. The hawks are playing a stupid game and I'd call their bluff.
in reality if the seahawks had any sense in the world they would cave in to the midget a little bit, piece him off rather fairly, both for the player he is and the discounted rate he was playing at. if they wait this out and luck and newton get new deals before him, its only going to be more expensive for the seahawks

Seriously. Luck will set a new standard.

That's not an option for Wilson because he would then count as a restricted free agent the following year instead of unrestricted. I thought the same thing or that maybe he could play Baseball (minor/major) for a year but it wouldn't make financial sense. If I were him I would show up for every mandatory training activity and then catch a phantom back injury right before the season. They can't punish him for being injured but it would send a clear message to management that he meant business.

how these fools sign dudes like Graham and still keep all their stars?

their reluctance to pay their starting qb thats how. he doesnt even make back up qb money for 3 years and now possibly a 4th. i see why they are hesitant, qb salaries, him not being elite, being able to sign/extend guys with money they wouldnt have available etc. i just wonder if theres any issues down the line with not taking care of their guy right when the chance came. we had a similar situation with kaep (minus the ring) where we had guys to sign and others making elite money and we didnt even hesitate to pay him.

This thread makes me happy. Without Lynch (soon), they're in trouble. Without Lynch and Russell, they're a bottom feeder.

Has their backup QB been in any games - even in clean-up?

Yeah, it's not about him walking, which isn't going to happen, it's about aligning expectations with reality.

I think among a lot of Hawks fans there was an expectation that he'd sign a well-below market deal because he's just so awesome. I can't really fault Hawks fans for this because EVERY fan base tries to convince themselves that their talented players will take less than they're owed to help the team out, and it just never happens. The closest example to something like that we probably have is the Kaepernick deal, and that wasn't even team friendly in terms of compensation, it was just bizarrely team friendly with regards to the terms of the deals (and really an outlier for that).

Now that Hawks fans have figured out that Wilson won't be climbing up onto a cross for them, the new hip opinion seems to be that the team can just save money by having him play out his deal and then slapping him with the franchise tag two years in a row.

This is equally dumb. To my knowledge an NFL quarterback has never actually played a season under the exclusive franchise tag before. It's simply a threat that's used as a bargaining chip to get QBs to resign. That Wilson would just accept playing under the franchise tag (let alone for two years in a row) is simply delusional.

If anything, in the long-term Wilson playing out this year without a new deal actually works in his favor. It makes the franchise tag the only chip the team has left, and also pushes Wilson's negotiations after Luck and Newton's negotiations. If Hawks fans think the team would be overpaying for him now, I shudder thinking how they'll feel if they get what they want and try to push it down the road. It's simply dumb.

It's one of those funny instances in which by far the best thing that could happen for 9ers fans is Hawks fans getting what they've convinced themselves they want.

i can fault them cus it was piss poor logic. i seen a lot of references from hawk fans to what tom brady did. problem is its 2 things on opoosite ends of each other. brady had 10+ years of making good money. wilson has been out performing his rookie deal since almost day 1.

Oh, yeah, I mean, it's obviously piss poor logic, and just really greedy on top of that (their fans have already gotten three years of really good QB play for practically nothing; they should simply be grateful rather than expecting MORE. )

I just don't fault them because fans of EVERY team try to convince themselves that their star players will climb on a cross for them, and they're always, always wrong. It happens way too regularly for it to be that noteworthy that it's happening again, IMO.
Nvm answer was in previous post
