Like who? Orlando Brown who is the exact same size? Connor Williams who might lack the length to play tackle in the NFL?

If you have a good tackle, seeing the dearth in quality tackles and OL period I'm not sure why you would roll the dice on what may turn out to be a significant downgrade.

Agreed. If you aren't going to commit to Brown you sure as hell better have a plan. What good is better run blocking if the new guy is getting Jimmy trucked consistently.

Lol, Phoenix beat me to it.

I was waiting for someone to say, "Orlando Brown."

Orlando Brown, comp: Trent Brown.

Unless someone calls offering a first-round pick, I don't think anyone should expect him to go anywhere. He's fat and sucks at OZ, but you don't kick out a guy that stonewalls some of the best edge rushers in the game with ease.

We have a tackle that is pretty good at the most important job- protecting the passer. And people want to dump him? Won't even consider it until Trent Brown is the worse starting O-lineman on this team.

Remember when Mike Shanny traded Portis for Champ

I would trade Trent Taylor, AA, Colbert/Tartt for another position we need.

TT-NOPE
AA-YUP
COLBERT/TARTT-NOPE
FRANCHISE REID AND TRADE-YEUP

Sorry smokes, put me down exactly with Pdiz here. Eggzackly.

He looks like a college player going against Jr high school kids in that video. He is mountain of a man and we should sign him long term. He blocks with ease.

"Brown (shoulder) underwent surgery and will require a 5-to-6 month recovery process, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports reports.
This rehab process will keep Brown out of the 49ers' offseason program and could possibly cut into training camp as well. Heading into a contract year, Brown has a lot to prove, since he's expected to eventually command a significant payday as a free agent."

same here, I'd rather keep Taylor, Colbert and Tartt, three young guys who have bright futures. Plus we don't need to trade for anyone, we can easily sign someone in the area of need(s), WR, CB, OG, C, etc... Usually when a player is being traded, either they've worn out their welcome, or they're on a bad contract. It's rare you see a trade for a young player on a team friendly deal, or still on rookie deal, not the NBA. We got lucky with the Garoppolo deal, Craft basically forced Belicheck to deal him.

The good thing is it's a shoulder so he can still condition himself...he should be back in June which gives him like 3 months before the season starts. He's not a rookie and should be fine. Pay his ass and check off RT for the next 5 yrs.

Yup and imo s**t like this is more important than being a elite run blocker.

Yup and imo s**t like this is more important than being a elite run blocker.

When your RT neutralizes or dominates a teams best edge rusher (Miller, Bennett, Avril, etc.) to the point they try wide 9 or give up and move him to the other side of the LOS, you've already won. I don't know if there is another T in football that is capable of that.

As to the run, as you can see, he's downright dominant 1on1, and can wipe out an entire side of the line especially in short yardage and goal line situations. On stretch runs, as long as he can get out wide, little running backs like Breida can hide behind him and explode through the hole. He can get to the second level typically on inside zone but obviously, is going to struggle stretching out consistently and then get to the second level.

But even his PP, when he's forcing a wide 9, that alone gives a huge alley inside to cut up into. His PP is elite when healthy and average in run blocking making him, overall, one of the best RT in the game st 24 years old.

And we need to remember, this was year 1 in a brand new offense...new running and passing scheme and assignments. Tomlinson, Kilgore and Fusco, who aren't 6'8" 345, also struggled learning the new running schemes.
