Wtf... Why we just give this price if glass 9 million dollars. Foot surgery now....

Why do people in here keep saying this. The team did not just "give him" $9 million. He is playing in 2018 under his rookie deal, so they are paying him whatever that amount is for this season. IF he is still on the team at the beginning of the next league year, which starts in March of 2019, or if he is injured as of that date then they will owe him the guaranteed amount for his option year. If he gets through the season without injury and the team decides to cut ties with him then they can do so before March and not be on the hook for a single dime of that $9 Million.

On the subject of opinions. Seems to me that one can't really have an opinion unless they are cognizant of the pertinent facts surrounding the topic under discussion. They can have a reaction. Not an opinion. And no, they aren't the same thing.
Odds are pretty good he finishes the season on IR and can't pass a physical next spring. This loaf has been hurt more than healthy in his career.

Not to mention from a business standpoint Armstead now has a motive for finding his way to IR, cashing in a 9 million dollar pay day. After 2019 Its possible he doesn't see that much money over the rest of his NFL career.

He also has motive to play at a high level... big money long term deal, be it here or on the open market.

He is not going to purposely try to get injured just to get 9 mill for one year, and that is what it seems you implied.

I'm implying he has 9 million reasons to hit the IR asap.

And everyone is acting like they gave him that LTD. If it's only one year and they won't be hurting for cap space that year, I don't see why it's that big a deal. It's not my money.

It is most definitely not a big deal.

To keep him just because we have the money to do so makes as much sense as keeping him because we hope this is the year he finally stays healthy and gets it

Do you understand how the 5th year option works?

Even if he does not live up to draft status and get a big money deal...being able to play in this league for 10 years > a one year deal at 9 mill.

We can still cut him despite picking up the option. His play will dictate whether he is here beyond this year.

Remember when we were told Foster being charged would divide the locker room?

yes ,. it was my opinion.. remember people here are not allowed opinions unless they have some factual information on the subject at hand or some such nonsense. while you were taking a nap. some posters rewrote the rules about who can have opinions and when

Clearly the coaching staff thinks more highly of him than you do. That's why they are keeping him on the roster and hoping he stays healthy and plays well.

It's fine to disagree with their assessment of him. I just don't understand people worrying about the amount he makes.

Getting a clean up procedure 4 months ago is not same old same old. It's using your time in the offseason to get your body right for the next season so you do not end up with the "same old same old".

Time will tell if health will be on his side this year.
