I'd say there's a lot of posters here who need help with projection, and information competency.

By all reports he's looking for a bigger payday then what we are willing to give him. There isn't a shred of evidence to suggest he wants to play for a 'better' team.

There is only one other team with that success rate of going to that many Division Championships and Superbowls and we lost to them. Flowers to the Chiefs...they outcoached us in crunchtime, their defense having continuity for was the difference imo.

It sounds a bit complicated but what I read is that they he is a FA but the 49ers have a choice of releasing him now with a $2.8M cap savings for money to be used now. Or, designate him as a post-June 1 cut. AA still is FA and the 49ers save $18M in cap that can only be used post-June 1 - like when they want to do BA's new deal.

Option 1
There's a lot of dead money — $25.9 million — that must hit the salary cap here. It's now time to see if the 49ers designate Armstead for a post-June 1 release. Doing so would spread the dead money hit between the 2024 and 2025 books; $10.3 million would hit this year and the remaining $15.6 million would hit in 2025.

Option 2
A standard release of Armstead — with a $25.8 million dead cap charge — would save the 49ers just $2.5 million now but clear their books entirely of him beyond 2025.

It's tough but I think they should clear it all this year. Next Year is Brock year. Good for him but that is going to sting.

thanks fellas. I think we should just bite the bullet this year if possible. But in that case it sounds like no many for BA extension. They must get that done . Tough call

Im hoping we gave AA a solid offer and told him he's free to find another deal. Of he comes back we can sign him over 3 years and spread that money with maybe 2 years guaranteed, but load it so we can afford Brock's deal in 2025.

Yes. So terrible to watch so many wins on weekends in Autumn and into the playoffs. So awful. I'd much rather lose every weekend and become altogether pointless. Let's have empty stands and go 2-15 every year - would be so much better than going to the playoffs and championship games.

Show a little backbone about having a good entertaining team that hasn't quite got over the hump instead of being so b***hy about it.

this might be a blessing in disguise, AA is proving to be a part time player on a full time salary.

Dude had 11 tackles last year...that is it...he had 27 this year, with 5 sacks....

You absolutely can pay less and get similar performance....so if he does not want to rework his contract, then go ahead and move on from him.

the per-snap difference in Kinlaw and AA is not all that different, especially when you consider what each are paid..

As far as impact goes:

AA 504 snaps, 5 sacks, 4 tackles for loss

Kinlaw 406 snaps, 3.5 sacks, 4 tackles for loss

There has got to be a better option out there then these two.

Probably going to give up 150 rushing yards a game this season

Yeah. If the Plantar fasciitis happens again, it is a may be getting to the level that ultimately led to the end of Patrick Willis' career ( I can't remember if his foot issues were Plantar fasciitis or something else)

I haven't seen this discussed, but there is a scenario where Arik returns. If his offers come in below whatever pay reduction the Niners wanted, he may resign (whether he should be brought back or not is another question).

Yup. He could test the market during the legal tampering period and not actually be released I believe.
