Now they're saying they were possibly going to release Unger due to his 4.5M salary cap hit.

They could win 2 - 3 Super Bowls in a row with this. All Wilson has to do is throw up this prayer hail marry blooper balls and Jimmy Graham will come down with them. That 2 point conversion will be unstoppable now. Wilson scrambling around in circles, throwing across the entire field, super high in the air, for the 6'7" 265 lb. Jimmy Graham to come down with. It won't even be "lucky" this time.

Remember in the Super Bowl Russell was doing the same the same with a virtually unknown undrafted rookie, Chris Matthews , before the Pats moved Browner on him. Now imagine Russell with an even bigger, ELITE weapon in Jimmy Graham !

They're probably already the favorites to win the SB next year and they should be. The way they're set up, they'll be in contention next year and probably many more years to come:

Paul Allen = One of the best owners in sports
Carroll = Top 2 coach
Wilson = Top 10 (borderline) elite QB
Beast Mode = Best RB
Graham = Best or 2nd best TE
Sherman = Best Corner
Earl Thomas & Kam = Best Safety tandem
They have the best defense and home field advantage in the entire NFL, etc.

It's funny how you leave out Wagner..who is their best defensive player. Once he returned last year, their D turned around 180°.

John Schneider has already stated that Jimmy will be restructuring his contract, add that with the fact of not paying a 1st round pick and Schneider believes the trade will be a wash cap wise.

But for all the 1-2's that say Schneider is a drafting genius and they sure do know how to build thru the draft but keeps trading away 1st round picks? I just don't get it?

If the Cawks are such great drafting experts, trade a 1st for 2 2nds or however that works out.

They just keep giving 1st away. "Most" GM's could trade 1st away but don't.doesnt that tell u something?

I guess the CAwks are showing the rest of the league how it's done, or creating a new way to do it that is cutting edge.

When's the last time the Pats or GB or Steelers or Ravens have traded a 1st. Let's look at who has and where those teams rank.

I love it when I read asinine logic like, "LOL, WELL, OUR TRACK RECORD WITH FIRST ROUND PICKS ISN'T VERY GOOD, BUT WE'VE KILLED IT IN THE MID-LATE ROUNDS. IN MANY WAYS, I'D RATHER HAVE THE SAINTS' 4TH THAN OUR FIRST." Idiots actually delude themselves into believing crap like that.
March 9th has to be one of the worst days in 9er history.

To be fair nobody ever covered him before on our team. And nobody will now either. Also if you noticed it seems to be a league wide problem. Covering a 6'7" 265 lb. monster who runs fast and has great hands seems to be a problem for 31 other teams for years and years. I don't see anybody having much of an answer for him.

In our case it won't matter much because we are on the way down. We are in rebuild mode anyway and not even close to the Seattle category. Our matchups won't be competative.

Gronk is NOT the best player to EVER play the TE position.

He is and it's not close. He could retire tomorrow and I would feel the same. He may never have the longevity of a Tony Gonzalez, but he's the best player to ever play the position. No one has combined his size, athleticism, blocking, and receiving ability.

Kellen Winslow Sr by far and away owns all this categories mentioned.
And that isn't even up for debate

BOOOOOOM!!!! And Quest drops his mic
Shouldn't compare Gronkowski's physicality to players of the older eras.

I think it should be on overall production relative to his peers of the same era over a span of years.

I believe Lawrence Taylor's measurables compared to modern LBs are not that insane (maybe worse now) but what was insane was how good they were compared to LBs of his era along with the offensive line's he faced.

Still think Gronk is an awesome TE, probably HOF bound if he sticks around long enough. Only knock on him so far is he's been injured a bit.

"I told Drew that whenever he decides to retire, I'm going to retire,'' Graham said. "I'll never play with another quarterback. I'm really serious about that.''

That's the thing though, those great older players shape the NFL we know today. LT was great at shedding off blockers, one of the best I've ever seen. You can't really measure that. The way he used his hands and leverage to manipulate blockers not only influenced the game, but it also probably changed the way people block.
That's probably the reason why you believe he wouldn't have the same level of success, because his influences are still in the NFL

Every once in awhile someone will come along and change football. LT was one of those guys

The only reason I compared Gronk to older players was because the parameters of said guidelines had been outlined (size, athleticism, blocking, and receiving)
Hoping this turns out like Percy Harvin, give up a first then get rid of him after a season or his injuries hamper him.

yeah, I immediately thought of who will cover him. Aldon Smith hammering the midget is coverage enough for me.
