Metrics say otherwise. He has consistently outperformed the level of blocking in front of him, has been top 3 in yards after contact, top 10 in DYAR and DVOA. Basically he has been a good player on some horrible teams with poor run blocking and QB play.

Its not unrealistic to think he can do better as the talent around him gets upgraded and especially with a better offensive scheme.

Think about Fournette and Cousins as a duo for four years. Why Cousins, besides all the past post but Hyde and a 2nd round pick could open up something.

So were Trent Richardson and Darren McFadden. The whole generational talent thing is played out. Also Fournette is less than an ideal fit in Shanahan's scheme where you really want at least one back that is a dual threat as a runner and receiver. Fournette has limited experience as a receiver and showed clumsy hands at the Combine, double catching a lot of throws.

I think the 49ers are far more likely to go with a guy in the middle rounds, a Kareem Hunt or Aaron Jones who arent the same level of talent as Fournette but outstanding fits in this scheme.

BS metrics...all I have to do is look up his game log and see that he's crossed the 100 yard mark just twice last season on a team that force fed the run.

LMFAO! I was in a band that did that song in the mid 80's. For the first time in years I saw the VHS last night for s**ts and giggles and here it is today. What are the odds. Any old timers remember Joshua's on Stevens Creek Blvd in San Jose?

On the lynch video during the pro day when asked about the reports of replacing Hyde, he said Hyde is a good back and he should have the mentality of proving himself, but he never refuted the report. Interesting..

Deserves a bump now that reports are surfacing that back up my intuition.

JL didn't sound too committed to Carlos in his interviews.

as long as he can stay healthy he can be a top 5 back in any system

Good player when he's on the field but it doesn't matter how well a player fits a system if he's on the IR. Needs for this team will always include a back up/ part time starter as long as Hyde is part of the team. Would rather have a player not as dynamic but someone you can count on being in the lineup.
