His interview was revealing. That Buck trade pissed the players off and that's why we have seen a drop off.

Seems like a massive jump to conclusions. I would put the Verrett, Williams, and Greenlaw injuries much further ahead as to why we aren't as successful on defense right now. Should get 2 of them back but Verrett was a huge part of last years defense so that hurts bad.

Agree. However, it's never a good move when you trade a locker room leader, especially one that is also a very good player.

At the end of the day other guys need to step up, plain and simple. I think Warner has done that, time for more to do the same. Won't always have a really perfect scenario like Joe Staley getting replaced by Trent Williams.

The guy is literally saying they took a leader away on and off the field. I don think he was crucifying anyone per say, just being honest. Injuries tend to happen when you gamble on players with injury histories.. Also a reflection of management. I think Jimmy is simply as frustrated as the fans. Guess what, the defense is by far the better squad as of this post lol.

Exactly, injuries are a real PITA but the offense now needs to catch up with the defense. Give me week 1's offense with week 5's defense lol.

I still can´t believe that they thought this was a good idea.

Keeping Armstead and Ward doesn't bug me as much as drafting Javon Kinlaw with the pick they got for Buckner.

Things would look a lot different right now if it was Armstead, Ward, AND CeeDee Lamb or Tristan Wirfs.

So this right here. Picking Kinlaw showed me that it was all about money and not wanting to pay Buck his contract. It would've been sweet to have Ceedee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy, Justin Jefferson or Tristan Wirf.

I believe Kyle preferred Aiyuk over the other receivers who we're currently available at that specific time. That also may have played a part In the decision to replace Buck with Kinlaw.. basically, they thought they could kill two birds with one stone, Instead of drafting the best player available. It's looking like another big miss from Kyle when It comes to passing on the other receivers for Aiyuk.

Yes, Lamb and Aiyuk were his favorite two from what's being said in the articles. But did Shanahan want Kinlaw at #14?? From what I've seen so far, Aiyuk has been more of impact on the 9ers than Kinlaw has, so I wouldn't say it's a missby Shanahan either.
To me it's like they had the decision to draft Buck's replacement in the 1st round set in stone regardless of BPA. No way he was rated that high on their board especially with the medicals

That's fine and all, but it still hurts the locker room chemistry. Even if Kinlaw was really good right now, players see that as a cold business move. Especially when this FO has been talking so much about creating a winning/family culture here, then you have to live by that. It's different then going to play for Beli where you know its all business.

A cold business is exactly what the NFL is though. I think on defense the young guys are starting to fill the void a bit. I'm actually worried a lot more about leadership on the offense. Who exactly is our offense leaders on the field right now? Trent Williams, sure, kittle, nope he's hurt, Jimmy, nope he's already been replaced essentially, any RB's, nope, Deebo, for sure he's coming around as a leader. Lot of pressure for Lance to become the long term leader of this offense.

no matter how the lynch and kyle defenders want to spin it or bring brandon into the mix.. it was a horses**t thing to trade buck. then double dumb ass to draft javon with bad knees and try to tell us that is bucks replacement. i would have been better dumping ward and aa or as these guys have said, at least draft someone who did not have bad knees,. just plain stupid and injury excuses aside last year.. that single move in my opinion will lead to our downfall which is happening already and may lead to the dismissal of kyle and lynch.. our descent to the bottom of the nfc west started with that trade..

They should have simply realized that Ford was never gonna come back after the tepid super bowl performance after 10 weeks rest. if they moved/cut dee back then, and talked buck into a friendlier deal, we could have kept armstead and gone fishin in the draft for an edge -- which we got anyway with hyder.

Trading/re-signing and making the wrong decisions throughout the draft could have cost us another crack at the super bowl. It's still early though, so there's still hope that some of those Draft picks turn Into good players. Another loss on Sunday though, and things could get ugly with all the frustration from the fans creeping In.

Dude has earned his salary today.
This defense is so much better when Jimmie Ward is on the field, i don't care what anyone else says.
