"I couldn't disagree more with anybody who has any negativity about Jimmie. If you ever had a chance to meet him, I think you'd see that. If you ever had a chance to coach him or see how hard he practices and how hard he plays and how he puts his body on the line and gives you everything he has, I think you'd immediately respect him." Hafley said.
But of course all the posters who come in here and rip Ward on a regular basis are in a far better position to know about how Ward is viewed by the team than the coaches are. I don't particularly have a dog in this fight. Ward will make the team or not depending on what he is able to contribute. The team picked up his option because they liked what they saw in him and now have to pay him regardless so they might as well let him compete and see where it takes them

They committed over $8 mill for a guy that can't stay healthy...
This is the epitome of... what the hell is the coach supposed to say..
Even if he was an all pro, which he definitely IS NOT, Dude isn't on the field enough due to injury to contribute.
And they still don't have a defined role for him going into his 5th year.
That either falls onto poor coaching or poor player.

One of the funnier plays from the 2017 season. "A ball carrier! Oh no run!"
So glad we have this at free safety now (Colbert)
That top one is cringe worthy
Seriously what the f**k was he doing ?!

They gave him a 5th yr option a yr ago based on not knowing who was gonna be the FS or CB after being given the keys to the teams 2 months prior.
He can play every single position in that secondary...is he going to a pro-bowl? Nope...but he allows the team to keep younger guys to develop at other positions because they don't need a backup at FS/CB/slot because he can play all of them.

The only good thing that came from him not trying to tackle is that he didn't give up that long TD by missing the tackle lol

I'll give him the benefit of a doubt. Looks like he was trying to turn the runner inside where he had help, and it succeeded. He knew if he whiffed the tackle it was a sure touchdown.

Has played in 42 out of 65 games so there goes the "never plays" nonsense.
And if all he ever did was run away from the action, do you think he would still be here? And spare me by pointing to those 2 gifs because there is a ton of film showing otherwise. Kyle and John had 3 years of film to look at before picking up that 5th year option which indicates they seen something.
