Not really.

The guy was toxic in college, and then in the NFL.

This. It's like people DON'T comprehend that Incognito has been kicked off EVERY single team he's ever been on in college and the pro's. Even with Buffalo and him becoming a free agency they made it clear that they did NOT want him back. So this guy apparently is talented but can't stick with anyone one team because he's a psycho....yeah that's someone I want on the 49ers.

I hope he learns quick and holds up well against our d-line in camp, otherwise, it's "what kind of syrup do I get with that pancake"

I understood that you said interesting. I just disagree. I do not think it would be interesting.

I really think that Incognito should not be picked up by any team. He has been doing this crap for years.
Time for him to pay the piper.

If the guy had done this in most environments he would already be in legal trouble so I won't argue with you about this...although, it is always amazing to see what happens to bullies when they are the least of the pack...usually become quite tame. The fact that he has been kicked off teams, more than once, would lead to believe this is not just a correctible problem but that he is mentally ill.

Definite possibility. Martin has to show up and prove he belongs first. If he does, he could be the swing tackle this year, and possibly take over at LG if Iupati leaves in 2015.

He told reporters yesterday that he would be seeing work at both tackle and guard spots.

If he comes into camp in shape and with a good attitude, which rejoining this coaching staff may bring out of him, the guy will be a really good pick up. He was a fish out of water in Miami (pun intended) and that shouldn't be held against him. Here is a write up from his draft profile:

"Martin is one of two tackle prospects in this year's class who could be called elite, and given the value of the position will be a likely first-round pick because of it. He embodied all that Stanford football was throughout his time there, as he is an aggressive, smart, technically sound prospect who will enter the league at a stage in his development where he should be able to contribute immediately."

Branch still trying to stir up crap after his "provoking" theory that Harbaugh and Baalke have a tumultuous relationship failed miserably. Fail.

Expect posts like these for EVERY player acquired.

Swing Tackle it is.
Q: What's your experience playing guard?
MARTIN: I've played right and left tackle. From what I've heard from others, the transition is easier going in than it is going out. I don't know. I've never been inside, but I'm open to playing any position — guard, tackle, center, heavy tight end — whatever is asked of me, I'll do it.
Q: What about the offensive system that Harbaugh and Greg Roman utilize do you think fits you as an offensive lineman?
MARTIN: It's a similar philosophy to what we had when I was at Stanford — smash-mouth, run-first offense. We had a lot of success in college and they've obviously had a lot of success so far in the NFL, them being Coach Harbaugh and the coaching staff and the team. I think they have a blueprint for how to succeed in the NFL and in football in general. I'm excited to be a part of it and to contribute to the team.

Branch has really turned into one of those annoying little b****s you see in sports media so often these days.

He couldn't ask for a better situation after the debacle in MIA. Anyone have any stats on how long, on average, Ryan Tannehill holds onto the ball since that might play a role into how often he gets sacked.

Good call...and someone else mentioned that their OL was playing stellar in the beginning of the season and then as the drama started to unfold, they (entire team) got progessively worse. If this is true, we should probably look at the first 8 games to get a better gauge for potential.

That would make a lot of sense about how when the locker room drama spilled out into the news, play started to deteriorate. About how Martin gave up so many sacks, I'm wondering how much Tannehill had to do with it. Whether he hung onto the ball too long. I know he's a mobile guy, but if many of his sacks are due to indecision with the ball, then we can't fault the Oline too much.

No question about it! In his comments on the previous post, his role will be at that critical Swing Tackle position which is critical to us going forward (we lucked out last year big time). He also knows within this offense, he'd be that extra 6th OL in our jumbo packages. So all in all, this should be a very nice fit him him and us. But it would be great if we can quantify expectations. Maybe we'd need to go back to his college career at Stanford.

and for just a 7th round pick. unless you are bruce miller a 7th round pick would be cut anyway. would not be shocked to even see him line up in the backfield a time or two
To add a little.

The mental reassurance of being coached by JH should alleviate a lot of stress for Martin. Getting to relax, focus on fundamentals and start to reclaim his potential - all for a 7th round selection.

How is that not brilliant!
