Well, in Harbaugh's defense, Seattle's db's do in fact hold on virtually every play. It's not like he made that one up and literally no one that isn't a Seattle player/fan agrees. I've personally witnessed multiple commentators speak on it....it's not exactly a secret at this point.

Exactly. We weren't doing it to score, just to get the first down. It actually looks worse that we didn't get it.

They have the punt coverage we have the consistent field goal kicking which is incredibly important in the playoffs, and we are excellent at it. It's tough to score points in this league, FGs are still very crucial.

Their kicker is pretty good, too. Easily among the best in the league. I think their ST is at least as good as ours, but if they are better it is not by much. Our offense is currently our greatest advantage if (IF!!!!!) Kap can take care of the ball and shake off his Seattle funk.

Didn't read the whole comment. I can only take so much stupidity at once.

In regards to the fake punt, we were not trying to run up the score, or embarrass the opponent. The whole point was to get a first down and run out the clock so we didn't have to send the defense back onto the field. We've seen guys get injured playing meaningless snaps in the past. That would have been the last play if Lee completed the pass.

Finally! It was about avoiding injury people..

Unreal that people don't get this! It's the same reason Reid didn't take the easy 6pts and score on his INT a few weeks ago! Damn ppl are stupid AF!!!

Comment by a displeased Seahawk fan-

"Can somebody please tell me why this is getting virtually ignored and dismissed by the national media?! The Niners were up 2 scores and ran a fake punt with seconds left in the game. Krappernick is caught on camera laughing at it, and the announcers chuckled. WTF?!!!! And just about nothing nationally afterward. If that were the Seahawks and Pete Carroll, it would be this gigantic story. Heck, we ran a fake punt, up big against Buffalo last year, and it was much earlier in the game as well as a regular season game, and there were headlines about it all over the place. I am sick and tired of this media narrative that the Seahawks are dirty punks, when all the reason behind it is our coach chews gun and smiles on the sideline, we have brash personalities on the team, and Harbaugh has been successful in his "Seattle's DB's hold on every play" narrative that he's spread. When in reality, SF is the team that has the coach that loses his mind on every play and screams at the refs incessantly, has perfected the art of the cheap shot after the play, gets helmet to helmet penalties every game, has the punk qb who kisses himself after scoring and disrespects the media every time he has to do an interview, has Anquan Boldin who acts like he's all class but in smacks refs and headbutts players, and who pulls crap like that fake punt. If Seattle did half of that crap, they'd be villified as the dirtiest team in pro sports history. But SF is a legacy franchise, so we get nothing. It's just tough, physical football.I know I'm biased. But if you actually pay close attention, the 49ers are much bigger "thugs" in how they play than we are. Our guys talk a ton and love to celebrate. But when it comes to actually playing the game, they don't do the cheap crap that SF has perfected as an art form. The Niners got away with 2 headbutts yesterday, while Carolina was penalized for one. Bowman took a swing at a Panther with no flag, yet Carolina got penalized for the same thing. And pay attention to Niner defenders after just about every single tackle. They hold down guys with their forearms and shove them into the ground routinely. And don't get me started on Anquan Boldin. for whatever reason he gets respect from the refs for being this distinguished veteran. But he shoves and instigates more than any offensive player in the league. Troy Aikman called him out twice for this yesterday. Said, "We do a lot of SF games, and I see stuff like this from Boldin every game. It needs to stop."Both Seattle and SF are tough, imposing, intimidating teams. I respect the hell out of how good the Niners are. And I know plenty of fans across the country don't like Seattle. But I'm just sick on seeing how different the two teams seem to be treated by the national media. SF, the "legendary legacy franchise" gets far too much of a free pass for the tactics they pull. Their coach doesn't get close to enough criticism for his sideline antics. All the while they overhype and hate on silly things like Pete Carroll smiling and chewing gum. And I blame all of this on the media narratives set nationally. They eat what the media and league wants them to think and run with it like the sheep they are. If fans of others teams watched them as closely and as often as we Seattle fans do, the league and media's narrative wouldn't fly as it does. But whatever. I'd much rather be the team who holds on defense than the team that takes cheap shots after plays. And before you waste time trying to prove to me otherwise, I don't give a crap anything any of the Niner fans here have to say. You love your dirty scum bag team. You view it through entirely different eyes. And I wouldn't expect it to be any other way. You don't like my team, I don't like yours. We can agree on that and save ourselves time arguing otherwise. Peace."

He says he's biased, and boy is he. This guy is absolutely off of his rocker. LOL at him saying we're dirty. Our guys rarely if ever hit anyone after the whistle. Meanwhile, Seattle has taken out two of our players knees. Then it's hilarious that he thinks Jim Harbaugh started the narrative of Seattle's db's holding every play, as if it's false and has no merit. Everyone and even some seattle fans will admit that their dbs hold every play. It's so damn blatant, that not even the most biased Seattle homer could deny it. Well other than this one I guess.
Lol and also we never run the score up on any opponent. We've had so many opportunities in the Harbaugh era to do such but we haven't, because we have class. Seattle on the other hand, runs up the score any chance they get. Just like what Pete the Cheat did in college. They have no class.
I was at the game and the Panther fans were pissed!! They had been pretty calm to that point but some became unglued. I was trying to explain to the guy next to that it was a smart play on our end because we could have just ran the clock out. But he was irrate at that point. Hell if you line up 11 in the box and we still have our gunners on the edge; you throw that pass 10/10 times. Losers...
Damn, we have like 10 threads on the seahawks. Can we make it to one giant thread?

It'll get locked. Maybe it's best to keep them scattered.

Gonna get sent back to the AFC after this upcoming asswhooping

Yeah what's up with these clueless jackasses? Everyone (save for the fake fans) saw that Andy Lee option coming. If he just had a little more air, first down, kneel down, game over, no more chance for injuries!
You just have to understand the Seahawks fans. Most of them have only been a sea hawks fan for what 3-4 years. Most 49ers fans have stuck behind the team for along time. I personally have been a 49er fan for 53 years, through the good times and bad. I know some that have been a 49er fan a lot longer than that. They are mad because they don't feel they are getting the love they should be getting because they are such a great team.
About their DB's holding on every play. Yes they do and all I hear is that they should let them play the game. Yes they should be able to play the game , but when it is a violation of the rules it should be called.
So if they win Sunday are they going to say yes we won because we have a great team or are they going to say we won because we had an unfair advantage with the crowd noise and our DB's hold on every play. So what happens if they lose Sunday. What is going to be their excuse then.
Yes Seattle has a good football team but they won most of their games at home because of the crowd noise more than anything else.

Are there some new fans? Sure, winning brings more fans, that's kind of the idea of a business after all. . keep expanding your reach. But, the vast majority of the Hawks fans I know have been fans since the very beginning.

As for the noise . . .
Home field is supposed to be an advantage. Clearly, in Seattle, it IS just that. If they were 0-8 on the road, then I might agree that their advantage was more because of their unique home field as opposed to their overall talent but, 6-2 on the road sort of dispells that.

That being said, the Niners are coming to Century Link via two very impressive road playoff victories.
't will be a huge challenge for the Hawks - obviously their biggest yet.
As far as the Seattle DB's tactics, it isn't actually holding all the time. There is some grabbing at times, but all corners will do some of that. What I notice from Seattle is more strength related. Arm bars to knock a receiver off their route, or hinder progress ... using their bodies in general for the same reason. I think that the Seattle model of CB's will be mirrored by many teams. Strict cover corners are rare, but a Addrealled up (errr ... strong and attentive) player is easier to come by.

What I would do if I was a receiver is swing down right on top of the DB's arm when it is either holding or hindering. If anything it would draw the refs attention to it.
