Oddly enough, I have a hard time seeing anyone overpay Crabs. Seriously, the guy is kinda in that second round FA signing group... you know.... the guys Baalke ends up bringing in. I don't think he'll be a 49er and I don't believe he'll command a sum much greater than what the 49ers would offer. He's going to leave... to leave.

Ya, but those teams are starting to curb it. Washington brought in McCluin(sp) to help curb that crap, and the Raiders... they're only offering one year deals for that type of contract. Things are starting to change.

Now, I can see the Dolphins, Bucks, and maybe the Jets doing something incredibly stupid; and those would be the teams I'd expect sign Crabtree to an amount that would send the entire zone to the floor laughing.

I'm actually happy to hear the Niners are in contract talks with Crabs. He's not without fault, but he's a good number 2. Hopefully, we can get him to complete a training camp this year. With that said, I wont lose sleep if we dont sign him.

Pragg: We're willing to offer you 2.5mm a year

Crabs: WTF?

Baalke at Presser: We did everything we could to retain Crabtree. We wish him our best.

York at Presser: While we think Crabtree is a tremendous talent, going forward we want to make sure we draft WRs with class.

He's worth a lot more than $4mil/yr.. Even Doug Baldwin makes more than that. I think some of you are undervaluing the money he's going to make on another team. He may not be a pro bowler, but...

Greg Jennings is making $9mil/yr
Pierre Garcon is making $8mil/yr
Victor Cruz is $8.5mil/yr

And those were deals signed 2-3 years ago. Crabtree is without a doubt gonna make $7-8mil+ per. It won't be with us, but he's not gonna sign a low salary deal. Some team is gonna pay him a decent amount.

Edit: I could see Baalke offering a 3 yr. $20mil. type deal and letting him walk otherwise. Regardless, I really, really doubt we sign him, and if they somehow make it happen then I bet Gore's gone for sure.

Crabtree isn't in the same class as those three but he is certainly a click above Baldwin. About $7million per is about what he will get. There are half a dozen teams that would be willing to pay that for his services.

In the end though, it isn't the money as much as the fact I don't think he wants to play any more in a power running offense. He is a pass catcher first and a blocker second. For four years he has been a blocker and now he wants to be a pass catcher. Why would he want to come back here for any amount of money, given what has transpired and what has been announced as the emphasis going forward?

I think he may listen politely and then move on.

just window dressing. i do not think anyone cares but i guess we have to make it look like we tried. like i said, trent will walk in, hear what the agent things crabs is worth and then trent walks out thinking about who will wear number 15 next year

Hope that's the case i know deep inside Crabtree doesn't even want to be here especially with a new coaching staff in place might as well start fresh get payed n move on with his career. He wont be missed.

I hope Crabtree, Iupati, and one of our corners all get massive deals in free agency while we sign very little and then pick up a couple 3rd and 4th round compensatory picks next year.

Yep. Crabtree never seemed like he wanted to stay in SF

Other than his ill-advised rookie holdout, there was never any indication that Crabtree didn't "want" to be in SF. Y'all are tripping, most just don't like him because he grew up a Cowboys fan and admitted it, and has Dallas ties. Yeah I said it lol
